REM sleep very low

Post by resmedas10 » Sun Mar 29, 2026 5:00 pm

I have a resmed airsense 10 and I ware a garmin forerunner 265 smart watch to track my sleep score and it seems i'm not getting enough REM sleep ever.

Below are the readings for last night, every day is about the same, it doesn't matter if I sleep more hours or less, my REM sleep is always low and my light sleep is always high.
Total sleep time 7 hours, 21 min's
Deep 54 min's
Light 5 hours 48 min's
REM 39 min's
Awake 32 min's

I'm just wondering if it's my cpap machine.

I can't post my cpap settings as I don't know where to get them or what settings you would require me to post.

Thank you for your help.

Do you take any meds (even OTC) of any kind? If so, what?

Are you waking often during the night?

Aside from metformin and crestor I don't take any meds, I tried using 5mg of melatonin last night to help me sleep. I let it melt under my tongue 1 hour before sleep, I slept through the night but it didn't help with REM. As far as I can remember I slept through the entire night, didn't wake up until the morning.

So.....exactly how does the garmin watch measure sleep status and stages?

The first thing you should be questioning is the accuracy of your Garmin for measuring REM.
