Problems with leaks F20 + Airsense 11

Post by thewizard » Tue Mar 10, 2026 11:14 am

Hi!

Model: Resmed Airsense 11
Mask: F20 Large and AirTouch F20 Large

I've been using cpap for sometime and by looking at the myair app everything seems to be going great. I've had good scores in the beginning and started really feel the affect of the treatment. There were up and down days of course but the

However I've not experienced any good days in quite a while and even after looking into the myair app I've got high scores. Which after some research was just for using the machine a number of hours.

I've loaded the information into oscar and sleephq and the result does not look good. With a lot of leaking...

- I have no face hair.
- Trying with new masks without any success. Going to try F20 Medium size instead of large.
- Tried to using different tightness of the straps. (I've replaced my straps but are unsure if the size is the same I've got with the mask as there are no marking size wise).
- Bought a new pillow with sides cut out of it to make the mask less likely to catch on to something.
- Washing my mask everyday with warm water and soop.
- Tried the AirTouch with the memory foam but its still leaks.

I've not been feeling good lately with dizziness/brainfog/headache all day and general tiredness during the day. This is super stressful as well not getting this under control.
I guess all these symptoms are attributed to the leaks I'm seeing?

Anyone got any tips what I can try more? Any help is much appreciated!

As you say, a lot of leaking.

Looking at your overall data, the only time you're not leaking badly is when you sessions are absurdly short (e.g. May).

My suggestions:
  • First step, whichever mask you're using: look for the maker's instruction videos and study them carefully. Sometime more than once is necessary. Resmed's mask instructions contain illustrated trouble shooting tips like "when it leaks here, tighten this".
  • Second step: Use the ResMed's mask fit option.
  • Important: Do alll these things when you're wide awake, not just before you're going to sleep. Eventually, mask fitting become second nature, almost like brushing your teeth, but you're very far from that point. Mask fitting has to be learned.
  • Do your mask fitting when lying down. Move about, close and open your mouth. Be patient.
  • Not every mask will fit you, but all masks will not fit properly if you try them while seated.

Yes.
But once you get the leaks controlled, the shortness of your sessions, and your inconsistent use have to be taken care of as well.

Good advice there from Ozij. In particular:
Not every mask will fit you
It may just be that the F20 doesn't suit the shape of your face and you might need to try a different mask. There are dozens of models out there, and sometimes you need to try more than a few to find one that really suits you. Talk to your supplier about try-and-return schemes.
* Download Oscar
* Oscar help
* An alternative to Oscar - try SleepHQ
