I’m booked in for a new Sleep Study in 3 weeks time
This is important. Don't miss it.

Interesting that the results over 2 nights suggest that OSA is NOT my problem, with AHI of 2.05 & 1.63….

no. osa is still a problem. that's your TREATED result.

keep on the hose and see if things improve for you sleep wise.

good luck!

Thanks zonker

Are you saying that my AHI is so low because the APAP is doing it’s job?

I will stick with it & hope to get some answers at my upcoming ENT appointment.

One metric I absolutely dispute is the “Vitality” rating. If I’m 98%, I wouldn’t want to experience 50!!!! If I were to rate my sleep quality & how rested I feel, I’d say 50% at very best!
A CPAP machine can only measure things about your breathing. It cannot measure whether you are sleeping or what sleep stages you are in.

What is your sleep hygiene like? Which drugs do you take, and what are the dosages?
Thanks CG

I’d say my Sleep Hygiene is good.
Never go to bed without a shower.
Bed is comfortable (been through multiple mattresses soft/firm & every type of pillow)
Room is dark

Don’t take any Sleep Medication. I did in the past, Diazepam & Zopiclone, but stopped for fear of addiction.

I’m looking forward to my Sleep Study!

Just to be clear, I was asking about any medications. Many interrupt sleep.

I’m on Natural Desiccated Thyroid, which I take on waking.
I drink a coffee in the morning, never later. 1-2 cups of tea a day.
1 bottle of beer & a glass of red wine with my evening meal. I say evening, that’s usually 5pm
That’s it really. I take Zinc & Magnesium (ZMA) at bedtime when I remember.
TBH, I’m not generally not one for medication & am fit & healthy aside from my sleep issues..

I’ve got some Sleep related screenshots from my Garmin watch that I’m trying to post, but can’t.
Acc to the watch my sleep last night was rated 54 (Poor). TBH, I’d say that’s higher than I would rate it.
SPO was average 95, with lowest of 86.

How do I post these images?

Thanks!

This product is known to cause trouble sleeping. Is your doctor aware that you are taking it and have sleep troubles?

Would you be able to skip it for two or three days to see if your sleeping improves?

Why do you think that would give us a better understanding? We know your sleep is crummy and lacking. Now, we need to find out why. Your upcoming sleep study might help with understanding.

Yes, I’m diagnosed Hypothyroid. When I was at my very worst, when I was literally falling apart (before my OSA diagnosis & Tonsil/Uvula removal) that was before my Thyroid diagnosis. If anything, I suspect I’m still under medicated. I need to get that tested.

I just thought the watch data might be useful. It’s got sleep stages, REM etc. no idea how accurate.
Yes, I’m really looking forward to the sleep study!!!

Thanks!

I was watching a SleepHQ video on CPAP pressure settings. He was saying the spread was too big, causing sudden bursts.

So I checked my settings, they were Min =10, Max = 20
I changed them to Min =8, Max 15

I’ve tried that for 2 nights. On the plus side the constant rush of air from the front of my F30i mask was less, which is good, because that keeps me awake if it’s hitting anything close, it’s noisy & my wife doesn’t like it at all when it’s blowing on her..

Unfortunately, I’d say my sleep was worse for those 2 nights…

Those Vitality ratings are a joke! I’d give it 9/100 at best.

Any advice on ideal settings?

Thanks!

Nick doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

Provided your maximum pressure is sufficient , it cant be too high. The machine won't go to the max, unless it needs to. If you only weigh 200 lbs, does it matter if your scales maximum is 250 or 300?

Moving you minimum lower was likely a mistake. Now it's not sufficient treating and avoiding events. It also takes longer to get to necessary pressures.

Be careful with what you are getting from those videos. In all four of the nights you posted, the machine never raised your pressure to 15. You could have left it at 20, and there would have been no difference in how the machine reacted.

This is not quite bulldonkers, but it's getting close.

There are no ideal settings. Typically, the optimum setting is a minimum pressure setting within two or three cmH2O of your maximum needs. With some exceptions, the maximum pressure setting can be set at 20. The machine will not go higher than needed.

Your sleep is so bad, that it is problematic to figure out what your pressure needs are.

But most of his Events are marked CAs. I think this is due to poor sleep.

Thanks very much both!

OK, so I will reset the Max to 20 & try the Min a bit higher than the original setting of 10? Say 12??

That setting didn’t seem to go too well.

I don’t understand how to read these charts, but I had to quit in the middle of the night, so I’ll reset to Min=10, Max=20

I recently bought the F30i mask, which is 100x better than the F10 I had, but in hindsight I’d buy Nasal Pillows.

I’ll hang on until my Sleep Study on the 28th.

Don't know why it didn't go very well, that's the best looking chart you've posted yet.
