Bit of a unique situation - AirSense 11.

Post by Walking Dead » Fri Oct 03, 2025 6:57 pm

Hello :)

I have purchased a ResMed AirSenset 11 outright without a prescription (completely legal in my country) to use asap. I would like to know which settings I should use to start with, or if I should leave everything at auto.

This would only be temporary.

But why would I do such a thing. Well firstly I work nights so my sleep is already obliterated. I failed three on-site sleep studies because I couldn't fall asleep due to high anxiety. Doing it at home would not make a difference...

I have recently moved to a new city, where the eccentric junkie living below me told me in no uncertain terms that my snoring was horrendous and was disturbing him. Then I was called a c***.

Yikes.

I know I have OSA, I have all the classic symptoms and have had them for many years. I am overweight at the moment, when I'm not overweight I am told by ex-partners that my snoring completely stops. But I would continue monitoring the situation regardless this time around.

So I would like to use something in the interim for my, and now others, sake until I can get my weight and anxiety under control, in which I will seek to engage in a proper sleep study again.

I have an SD card for OSCAR.

Many thanks.

There are probably others here with more experience, but here is what I'd do. Set a range of about 7 to 15 in auto mode. I'd start without EPR or ramp and standard response. Then see what happens after a night or two. From there you can see what the machine does, what pressures it runs at. If you are uncomfortable you can use EPR and or ramp to help. There are a lot of threads around those issues. Likewise you can forward some charts from OSCAR or sleep HQ to get advice on any changes needed for the therapy settings.
