New Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto

Post by kwikwater » Sat Sep 06, 2025 4:03 pm

So I've used my new machine for just one night and before I go adjusting, I have a question or two.

I've been on CPAP for 20 years. First at 8cm, then 13cm for the past 12 years. In late June my electrophysiologist wanted a new sleep study. I didn't really ask about his goal, but as I was diagnosed with afib in early March, and got that resolved for now with a cardioversion in May, I've really watched my overnight O2. I figured he was hoping to increase my average 88%! Well, on night one, each breath felt like I was breathing through a 1/4" tube which quickly increased to a 1", when I"m used to the equivalent of a 2", non-pressured tube! This morning I find the pressure was at 11cm most of the night!! By morning that stepped pressure delivery seemed to have gone to just the higher of the 2 at bedtime. I've been playing with settings on my old CPAP (Phillips Dreamstation 2) and had it set to variable 14-17cm and lately it has had a lot of time at 17 overnight. My O2 is closer to 91.6 this past couple weeks. I can't wait to see how my O2 is tonight, before I go tweaking the settings.

I know I want to change the inspiration timing a bit, but is there anything else I can do to force it to delivery my "normal" pressure. I've never used ramp and expect full pressure from breath one! Anyone have input on which way to go, or how to quiz a DME or sleep doctor?

s/ Starving for air in Colorado!!
Thanks all!!

It's great that you have a new VAuto -- it's such a good machine for so many people! And congratulations on successful treatment for the afib.

Any chance you could post an Oscar chart for people here to look at? The key elements to get into your screenshot are the left panel and these graphs:

Events
Pressure
Flow rate
Leaks
Snores
Flow limitations.

Also, if your oximetry data can be exported to Oscar, that graph would be valuable too.

I'll try to upload some screenshots. It's been at least 10 years since I have and I forgot any of that procedure!!

I'm now 3 nights into the new machine. I survived the issuance pressure settings that one night and have increased it back to something more familiar and have added the pulseox overnight. I'm pleased to say, that for just last night I got my O2 up to 92%, where it had been 88-90 most of the time. I also finally got my sleep study. The one where they started their lab bipap at 8/4cm!!! I've got the machine set at 17/11 with pressure support to 15.4. My question now is, how much O2 improvement is afe to use by increasing pressure, vs just adding supplemental O2?

Hang loose a few days and I'll get back to downloading and submitting some screenshots!!
