If CPAP won't work for you at all...

What works and doesn't for you doesn't mean it will be the same for everyone - don't be so dogmatic in your stuff here - could scare away someone who might benefit.

Re: If CPAP won't work for you at all...

I am a newbie . I did read the how to’s for this group and hoping I follow the format . Please let me know if I need to adjust .

I wish the Cpap worked for me . Tried different machines for months without success . I am 67 and have suffered with apnea for years . Doc felt it was time to try another means .
Sleep doc suggested the Inspire device , which I understand has been approved and in use for a little over 10 years with much success
I stumbled on this group when looking up for an inspire group . The only feed that came up was user “rogelio “ whom posted on the “my personal experience with inspire for sleep apnea “. Perhaps I should be on that Forum ? Yet tried searching for it without success. Was able to find this forum which states CPAC will not work for all .
Do we need to start a forum for people who have had the inspire implant put in or are thinking about the procedure ? Rogelio post was a bit intimidating for me , yet my heart goes out to him/her/they .
This past week 07/22/2025, I had the inspire implant installed . It will be activated in sept 2025 . I would LOVE and appreciate to hear from folks who have had this procedure done .
Manufacturer and sleep doctors tell me it is 90 percent successful. That to me is encouraging for a person who has struggled with quality sleep for many years .
I would like to hear how the install (surgery went) , how long the recovery period was for each “inspire device “ activated , positives and complications if any .
I am very much looking forward to the inspire device to work successfully for me . Yes I have pain currently . Yes the pain was expected since I did read about the surgery and recovery.
We did have one have one hiccup … when surgeon was tunneling to put the device /lead in , he mistakenly hit my anterior jugular (I think it sounds worse that what it is ).

Surgeon said he saw the excess blood (lost 50cc) and he made another incision and sutured the vein .
If we can’t use this forum for the Inspire device , perhaps someone can recommend a name for the Inspire device , and we can get feedback from folks whom had or thinking about having the inspire installed .
I believe it could be helpful physically and emotionally in the healing process for me and others to read success stories . And yes , also need to hear of complications (so we can learn )
In cpaptalk .com I didn’t see a forum for The Inspire device or for sleep apnea pillow .
I appreciate your feedback and hope I can hear some success stories while I am on the mend . I wish you all success with your sleep apnea journey … it is a tough one , yet I am told we all can have quality sleep .. peace

We don't have special/different forums for different discussions here. It's all one big forum. No sub forums at all.Inspire222025 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 4:31 pmDo we need to start a forum for people who have had the inspire implant put in or are thinking about the procedure ?
Remember .... this is a cpap use help forum....we try our darndest to help people be successful with using a cpap/mask.
Those that failed and opted for some other alternative and were successful with the alternative are probably not going to be hanging around here. They really don't have a reason do they?
You are welcome to start your own discussion (please start a new topic/thread of your own) for Inspire discussion but we don't have many Inspire patients so I wouldn't hold my breath on it getting much traffic.
I wish you good luck with your procedure. As you have discovered it isn't a quick fix at all but some people don't realize that fact nor do they realize that the Inspire procedure isn't something that just anyone can go about getting and doing.
I have heard it fairly often "I can't do CPAP so I am going to get the Inspire implant" then they come back and say they didn't qualify for it.
I had a real good friend (passed away a few years back from cancer) who wanted to try the Inspire but she didn't qualify due to where her apneas were happening. She still used her cpap but admitted it was a struggle.

CPAP never worked for me either, even after switching out different masks and trying every trick from my sleep doc. Surgery always sounded intimidating, so I’ve been holding off and just focusing on managing things as best I can until I make a decision. It’s encouraging to hear you’re hopeful about your outcome, even with a rough patch during the procedure. I actually started using a lung strength trainer because I read it can help improve breathing and energy during the day. I found it helpful for boosting my breathing power and felt better during daily activities.
