‘New’ Machine - CDMA type, not 4G?

Post by donzi » Tue Jul 22, 2025 11:19 am

I am using a machine that is new to me. It’s my wife’s old S!0 For Her, set to regular Autoset mode, as my vacation home Cpap machine, since she no longer has OSA. I have a new S11 as my primary home machine and I have been using my old S10 as my secondary machine but it has >20,000 hours and I am getting warning messages about motor life so switched to her machine, but it does not send data to the MyAir app and assumedly doesn’t send data to my provider.

My old S10 from 2017 has AT&T as provider and 4G as type. The new S10 is actually newer, from 2018 but has no provider and type is CDMA, which seems like an older technology. Neither my provider, my DME nor ResMed can help me. Is there any way to get the machine to connect to AT&T or is the hardware fixed to CDMA mode? ResMed noted that older machines may not have cell capability but this one is actually newer than my older AT&T machine so it seems odd that it would have older technology.

Any help, guidance or explanation would be appreciated!

You might consider swapping the modem out of the 4g *AIR*10 with the CDMA one.

The modem is port mounted and easy to take out.

Here's a tear down video that shows how to disconnect the modem. The modem being removed is about the 5:00 point

I don't know if the CDMA Air10 has the firmware to support the 4g modem or not. If swapping the modem doesn't help, then no, there is nothing you can do.

Thanks - that’s exactly what I was thinking. Or swapping motors. I saw a CDMA thread that leads me to believe either are pretty easy.

For further clarification, I did do some research after posting and see now that it’s a hardware issue that can’t be fixed without changing the modem. It bothered me that her newer one had older hardware but then recalled that when she got hers it had a lot of hours on it. The DME apparently sent her a used machine.

It turns out the it has a lower S/N so despite the fact she got it more recently, it was actually older. They apparently changed modems between the 2 S/Ns.Good news is MyAir recognizes the machine, something that seems could be an issue.

Swapping the motor will not make the >20,000 hours message go away. That message is triggered by the number hours and not an indicator of any kind of wear on the machine.

You can tell the year of manufacturing from the Air10 serial number:
The first two digits in the serial number is the country of manufacture:
22 = Australia
23 = Singapore

The next two are the digits representing the year.

2217xxxxxxxxxx
Manufactured in Australia in 2017.

Awesome video. Thanks! Seems to make more sense to swap modems so I’ll go that route. So… looking S/Ns, hers is a 2015 model and mine is a 2017 model. I can’t believe (actually I can believe) the DME sold her a 3 year old model as a new one. Probably double dipped the insurance.

That is why newbies need to come here and get educated on what to look for BEFORE they visit their first DME.
You need to be aware that if their lips are moving they are lying.
You need to be aware that they will sell you the machine and supplies with the lowest cost/highest margin for them.
You need to be aware that if they have your CREDIT CARD they WILL use it. A DME will never see my credit card. They will no longer see my personal check. My Banks bill pay system mails out checks on my behalf. If the DME can't live with that we don't do business.

What is the point of your post other than to display anger towards your DME. Are you suggesting I’m a newbie? Did you even look at my join date compared to yours, newbie?

Done. That was easy. I’m getting bars now and AT&T is shown as provider. Just need to see if I get MyAir data tomorrow.

I don't think bwexler's comments were directed at you, but re-enforcing your distrust for DME's that you had just commented on.
