GREATLY Need a Mako/Infineer DT-3500 Smartcard Reader
Hello my CPAP Talk friends,
I have been searching as hard as humanly possible to locate a Mako/Infineer DT-3500 smartcard reader to work with my Encore Pro software. Does anyone know where I can locate one? I've learned that this reader is the critical link to work with Encore Pro. I have the card I need and the software fully operational - just need this reader.
Thanks so much for your help!!
Warm regards,
- Mark

Maybe a dumb Q, but have you called the co?
Re: GREATLY Need a Mako/Infineer DT-3500 Smartcard Reader
That card reader has been discontinued....a long time ago. You figured that out.
I know of one person who might have one of those old dinosaurs laying around. He used to have one but I don't know if he ever found a new home for it. I have sent him a text and asked him. I will let you know what he says as soon as I hear from him.
Don't hold your breath though.

So I heard back...sort of.
He doesn't remember if he still has one or not but more importantly no idea where it might be IF he even had one and right now way swamped with work and no time to go hunting right now.
I shared with him your needs and if I hear anything positive I will let you know.
Sorry...but for now....SOL.
Alternately you might try calling some of the cpap repair websites and see if they might have one or know of where one of those card readers could be found.
acbio.com
They used to work on Respironics machines all the time. They might know of something.

Hi Julie,
Indeed, I have called the company - On that note, I have called so many places and talked to so many people along this very challenging journey. Yet, please know there is NEVER such thing as a dumb question. In fact, the ideas in ALL questions lead to other ideas that often result in a solution. Thank you for reaching back - and never stop trying. I, for one, so appreciate your help!

Is that the one that came with the ResMed S8? Because I had that one, but I don't remember where it is. I may have sold it, but I could look again, if needed.

No....the Mako Infineer DT 3500 card reader worked on the Respironics machines (M series and older) and never would/could work with any ResMed machines.

Thanks folks! The Mako/Infineer DT-3500 works with the Respironics RemstarPlus M Series machines for sure, and possibly other models. It includes specific programmed capabilities developed exclusively by Respironics that no other smartcard reader has. Hopefully - somehow, some way one will surface soon - and I can't express to everyone how much I appreciate all of your questions, responses, and help. You are the great people that make this such a wonderful forum!

Hi Pugsy and Team,
I spoke with Accurate Biomed today, and they do not have one. Any other ideas come to mind?
Thanks again everyone!

Re: GREATLY Need a Mako/Infineer DT-3500 Smartcard Reader
Sorry but I am all out of ideas.
I was strolling through the old threads and I found a post offering the DT3500 for sale....thought we got lucky...then realized that the post was quite old (2014) but if I remember right the guy posting (hasn't been here since 2017) passed away and that was why he hasn't been back.
What are you hoping to get off your machine that warrants all this headache?
The M Series Plus model cpap machine doesn't gather any data beyond hours of use. It doesn't gather any data for Encore Pro to give you a report on. Now if you had a different model and not the Plus....you might have a little data available

Re: GREATLY Need a Mako/Infineer DT-3500 Smartcard Reader
Hi Pugsy,
Great to hear from you again! Actually, it's not so much what I'm trying to get off of my machine. The Infineer/Mako DT-3500 is both a smartcard reader and writer. It is used in concert with the Encore Pro software (both this smartcard reader and software were uniquely developed by Respironics) that I have running successfully to program certain basic features per how the RemStarPlus M Series unit performs. For example, having the machine auto-start when the mask is attached instead of just when it is plugged in, automatically starting in the ramp mode that is set in clinician mode instead of at max ramp, etc. There are several basic parameters that the machine itself cannot be programmed to perform unless it has the smartcard to read from. Once properly programmed by this reader onto the smartcard, and the smartcard is inserted into the unit, the unit picks up the parameters from the smartcard and behaves exactly as desired. After that, the smartcard can be safely removed from the unit and stored away carefully as the unit retains the parameters given to it by the smartcard and stores it in its non-volatile memory until the battery runs out - which takes years as there is a shunt circuit on the battery that enables it to draw very low power for a significant period of time.
Hope this helps! Do you think there may be a way to gain the reader (somehow/someway)? Thank you SO much for all of your help - I am so appreciative!

Well.....nothing is impossible but this comes in real close to impossible.SleepIsGreat wrote: ↑Fri Jul 18, 2025 11:16 amDo you think there may be a way to gain the reader (somehow/someway)?
I know someone somewhere has one but they don't know that you want one and we don't know they have one they don't need.
When I can't find something at ANY price then that means we have a serious inventory problem.
Usually I can find something at some outlandish price but not in this situation.
