Has anyone had UPPP surgery for palatal prolapse?
I suspect i have palatal prolapse as Nasal stents unblocked the soft palate/nose area so i could nose exhale again but it was not sufficient. It was a back2sleep stent that is really for mild/moderate apnea.
My soft palate is no longer visible, hanging below my tongue and when i swallow i can feel it like a flap of skin.
Can UPPP surgery cut this loose soft palate area and make the throat area bigger? Yes Ive heard horror stories about UPPP not working but there is also good evidence it can work for a redundant palate/ long and floppy soft palate tissue. Anyone care to advise me. Thanks

See the surgeon again and ask them - you want the right opinion, not a guess.
Re: UPPP for Palatal Prolapse?
I really advise you against this surgery. Palatal prolapse is very difficult to resolve. The best success I have had is using a bed that can be adjusted to sleep position.I have to say I'm a back sleeper and with an angle of about 20-30 degrees my situation improves by 90%.
I had BSS surgery (link below) which also helped me.Minimally invasive, I had it done in the doctor's office with local anesthesia. It only took 15 minutes and it's reversible within the first month. The surgery takes full effect in 6 months according to the doctors but I saw a constant improvement until the 9th month when it stabilized. My doctor performed a W on my soft palate to begin with and we can repeat as needed until we achieve the desired result.

Good luck.
