Device manufacturing date 2016 (Airsense 10)?

Hello,

I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea after a sleep study (AHI of 29). I also underwent a titration study. I am looking to buy a CPAP machine. I came across a device which has runtime of 0 hours. However, the manufacturing date is 2016. The serial number is 23161955902. The machine also has some light scratches on its black body. It smells normal. It's hard to get new devices here as ResMed doesn't officially ship here. Would it be fine to buy/use this machine given it has been 9 years since its manufacturing date. I do have the option of importing a new machine.

Be sure you SEE the run hours. Doesn't seem like a 9 year old machine with scratches would have zero hours. Don't look at USED hours...Look at RUN hours.

Definitely, very it's run hours, and not usage hours.

Run hours are like the odometer on your car, and can't be reset. Usage hours are like the tripometer, and can be reset. Some sellers like to pawn off usage hours as run hours.

Hi, I have checked the run hours. And I called the seller again to confirm. The machine has never been used and the run hours also show zero. I am attaching a video of the machine which shows the run hours and the condition.

He said that the machine hasn't been used, and the stock usually sits until it's imported and sold. I don't know what explains the scratches, but the run hours show zero. I am attaching the video of the machine including the settings and conditions.

The run hours show zero and I searched everywhere and realized that they can't be reset. Here's a video of the machine.

I suspect the scratches are from the machine being sitting out on a shelf somewhere that it gets bumped around a little.
Sounds like the place selling it is/was some sort of DME and that machine simply got forgotten and just set there gathering dust.

I guess for me and this machine......what is the price? In my book just because something has 0 hours of use isn't going to take a hit simply because of age when it comes to selling price.

I am the queen of cheap.....for me it would come down to price.

Hi, I am not in the US and the local price translated to USD is $600 for this machine. I am just concerned if the manufacturing date or the fact that it has been sitting for a long time would affect its performance or the therapy. If I were in the US, I'd just pay an extra $300 and buy a new one. But I would have to import it and that would cost me around 1000-1100 USD after customs and taxes.

That overall age of the machine (despite the hours) is a legitimate concern which is why I put asking price question in there.
Two years sitting on the shelf is one thing but 9 years is a whole different thing...IMO
We don't know when or even IF it will fail at some point in the future.

How much of the machine life is related to overall age or hours of use (or non use)?????

Same. I don't know if it's bad for a machine to have been sitting for that long even with no use at all. The seller seems confident that it has no issues. The price is $600, and it's not far off from the current price which would be around $900 in the US. I'd happily pay an extra 300, but I would have to import it here. Importing a new device would ensure that I get a recently manufactured one, but there are two caveats. It will take a further two more weeks thus delaying my therapy, and it would cost around $1200 (extra 200 or 300 on top of $900 for the import and custom tax/duties)

My primary concern is if the therapy it delivers is uncompromised or if there'd be issues due to the long age of the device. I don't mind a couple of scratches or even the fact that it may not work two years down the line, just that it should work completely fine now as the machine is supposed to.
