Hello,
New user of CPAP machine for the last few months. I occasionally will use the machine all night- but mostly I wake up in the morning having taken off the mask overnight. I don't remember taking it off, so I am not sure why I take it off. Are there any clues in my report as to why I might be removing it, usually after around 3 hours (and relatively consistently at the 3-4 hour mark!)
Any thoughts greatly appreciated! Please let me know if I have posted my report wrong or done anything else wrong with my post, as this is my first post. Thank you.
any clues on my report as to why I keep taking off my mask after a few hours?

howdy! this a quite common occurrence when you are new to the machine. same thing happened to me.SleepySheepy11 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 11:37 amI don't remember taking it off, so I am not sure why I take it off.
and it's nothing to do with your settings.
instead, it's your big ol' primitive brain. it's screaming "oh my god! there's an alien on my face and it's trying to kill me. get it off!!" your brain feels it's not in charge and it's doing everything it can to get control again.
what can help you sooth your brain is to wear the mask while NOT sleeping. disconnect it from the machine and wear it while doing something else. like, doing dishes, watching an engrossing movie or reading a book. whatever you can think of to distract your brain. fool it into becoming used to the mask.
this might take a bit of time, but it DOES work.
please come back and let us know how it goes, won't you?

Thanks kindly for your response.
I wore my mask for an hour today, and I'll wear it for another hour before bed!
Will update with my progress!
