Hi there. For many years I've used Resmed Autoset CPAP's with nasal cushions, mouth taped, no humidifier, no problems and great 'MyAir' scores. BUT... lately my right nostril has become very, very sore inside. Bleeding even.
Now we are in our winter down here so it's our dry season and we often run our air conditioner during the night as well. I thought a 'full face' mask like the new F40 might help but when I consulted an 'expert' at a local CPAP shop, she suggested changing a winning formula (switching to FF mask) would be unwise.
So... do you think hooking up the humidifier of the Autoset 10 would help? I've not used an humidifier for at least 15 years and back when I did, I found it very difficult (annoying). I kept getting water build up in the tube. As things stand, my nose is so tender I can't wear my CPAP at all because it is simply too painful. but I do need a restful sleep. Any ideas?

Re: Dry nostril
Humidifiers are designed to help (exactly) the problem you're describing and is one of the first things to try.
Also consider nasal cushions, if nasal pillows are painful.
Use a heated hose, and start with a low humidity setting. If you experience rain-out increase hose temperature.
