I've had an Airsense 11 since late 2023; sleep doc upgraded me from an Airsense 10 when the 5 year period on the latter was up.
Often the air coming out of the Airsense 11 has a very odd smell. I'd describe it as sweet, almost like a sweet burning smell, but maybe more like melting beeswax. (NB: I'm relying on my memory of beeswax from when I was a child, which was, uh, many decades ago.)
I don't have any evidence that it irritates my nasal passages or lungs, but it's somewhat disturbing insofar as I'd figure there shouldn't be any smell at all.
It's not the humidifier or heating plate. I don't let the tank get low, and I've smelled the heating plate immediately after I detect the smell and don't smell it there. I can't imagine there's anything in the ambient environment contributing to this (in the intaken air).
Anyone else have this experience? Is this something that merits trying to get an exchange?
TIA,
S

Re: Airsense 11: weird smell
I had a similar issue with my first Airsense 11. A somewhat "sweet" electrical smell.
I suspect this is actually from the heating plate, despite that not seeming to be the case in your example.
When this happened to my machine, I also developed leaks from the water tanks within a short period of time. Less than one month.
The tubs were not handled roughly or abused.
My machine was out of warranty by the first time I insisted having it checked by Resmed.
I ended up getting a replacement via medicare.
My new machine does not have this issue, and hopefully will not develop that.
Allegedly, while these are some reports of this, the problem is not widespread.
Have it checked out, and hopefully fixed if you are under warranty.
Best of luck with this.
