daytime fatigue

for; den , dsm , blarg , etal. I cant thank you folks enuff for your responses !! Whoever mentioned medication(s) may well be on to something! I take 2 hypertension meds---micardis , andnorvasc . Also have(had ) restless leg syndrome and am prescribed mirapex which has been 100% effective ! Problem is that I am convinced this latter drug is contributing big time to my day fatigue . E.G. if I avoid taking my evening dose I'm able to stay awake all evening , whereas, taking the mirapex as directed (dinner time) I am gaurenteed to go into a coma-like sleep lasting 60 to 90 minutes and leaving me totally wiped out! Quite a dilemna , i.e. avoid medication and decrease fatigue but suffer restless legs ?? All that said , your comments have convinced me to stay the cpap course so I will be "hooking up" tonite!! Will also discuss with my doctors but not possible 'til mid march! Thanks again to all, you've been very helpful . regards harry.

Harry,

Only shows to go ya that (contrary to what the medical profession believes) this therapy CAN be more complicated than just strapping on a mask and machine each night and immediately feeling "restored".
Hang in there! Hopefully, your doctor will have some alternative solutions.

Best wishes,

mirapex can definitely lead to the daytime fatigue.

if you go to mirapex.com and read it says:
The most common side effects in clinical trials for RLS were nausea, headache, and tiredness. You should talk with your doctor if you experience these problems.
tell your doctor, maybe he can give you a trial script of Requip, but it can also have the same adverse side effect.

(personally, I would just take a good multi-vitamin and say screw the scripts).

From Requip Prescribing Information:
WARNINGS
Falling Asleep During Activities of Daily Living: Patients treated with REQUIP have reported falling asleep while engaged in activities of daily living, including the operation of motor vehicles, which sometimes resulted in accidents. Although many of these patients reported somnolence while on REQUIP, some perceived that they had no warning signs such as excessive drowsiness, and believed that they were alert immediately prior to the
event. Some of these events have been reported as late as 1 year after initiation of treatment.
I bet mirapex should really carry the same warning as Requip. I might add, Requip can also make you smoke more, they don't really know how it works with RLS. We didn't seem to have much trouble with RLS until the drug came out.
