HME Mask Help
HME Mask Help
I am too old to be lugging around a regular cpap machine when I travel. My machine weighs 4.5 pounds. I would like to start using a lighter travel machine. To do that and make a significant difference in weight .... I would like to do away with the normal water humidifier and go to an HME. The mask I presently use (Resmed Airlift p30i) is not appropriate for an HME. Could anyone please provide their recommendations for a lightweight mask that can be used effectively with an HME? Thanks to all for any help provided.
Re: HME Mask Help
Resmed offers a tube adapter that will allow you to use any mask with the AirMini...However you cannot use the HME with that adapter.

Re: HME Mask Help
Humid X is sold in a package with a P10 mask and AirMini travel machine.
Re: HME Mask Help
Yes but I believe that the P10 packaged with the AirMini has a special design to allow for the HumidX thingy to be closer to the nose so that the disc can be effective. I believe it (the packaged P10 with AirMini) has a much shorter "short" hose
The reason is where the HumidX disc has to be placed.....between the long hose and the P10 short hose (regular P10 package and not special package) is just too far away from the fact/nose to deliver any moisture.
The HumidX disc has to be relatively close to the nasal area for it to deliver much humidity.
That's why those discs don't work with a lot of masks. Or why at least we get the warning that they aren't compatible.
