ResMed AirFit N30i

Post by PollJ » Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:50 am

Hello all, I am new to this site and relatively new to CPAP (2 weeks). I tried the AirFit N30i but the air was leaking a lot and my 'events' score went up from 1 - 3 to 20 in the few hours I had it on. In the end I got up and changed back to the nasal pillows mask, but I can see that if I can get this to work it will be more comfortable. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas re what I could try next? Many thanks, Poll

I've had good results by loosening the mask's straps to the point of right before the mask begins to leak, and by making sure the mask is perfectly centered on my nose (horizontally, that is). YMMV

I had an issue with the strap slipping up the back of my head when I moved around on the pillow causing large leaks. I discovered that the headgear for the Respironics DreamWear pillows mask fits the N30i and P30i quite nicely. It eliminated most of my leak problems. Its is the newer one that has 2 arms with a shorter stretch cloth behind. There are 3rd party clones of this headgear on Amazon, I got 2 sets for $14.

Could you maybe give me the exact name and part number of whatever head gear works nicely? (Inquiring minds want to know...)

I think this is the headgear in question.

Get a tube of lansinoh nipple cream in breastfeeding aisle. smear a tiny bit on your nose and it makes it tacky for better contact. This will probably allow you to loosen the straps also. The tube I got lasted me over two years. It really only takes a tiny bit and often dabbing off the excess helps it stick better (quick dab on back of hand to nose).
