Is there any way to get mask pillow dimensions?

Post by theunmaskedman » Fri Apr 18, 2025 9:59 pm

I'm relatively new (~2 months), and like many people I'm trying to find a mask that actually fits me.

I know this much: it must be full face (e.g. ResMed F20); I'm primarily a nose breather but my nasal passages seem small and often compress or get stuffed up and I supplement nose flow with yawns a lot, especially with the CPAP on; I have tried nose/nose pillow/hybrid full-face-with-pillows and with all of them I can't breath through effectively (suffocating). Most masks I put on my face and I can't inhale well enough even with no hose attached. (And mouth taping is straight out for me, no way.)

My problem with full face masks is: my mouth is wide, so the pillow's lower corners overlap the corners of my mouth, and thus get caught in my mouth / leak / etc. My face is not that tall/long (hence I fit a M or even S size pilllow on all the sizing devices & face scans) but even the L size pillows so far, same issue (and yes, they ride up too high and too low on my face, as the sizing guides tell me they will).

I have already bought all the various F20 pillows I could find on amazon but nothing covers my mouth. My equipment provider does not seem able to give me specific recommendations for this issue, has no trial masks for test fitting and won't speculatively buy me other masks.

Before spending hundreds on masks that are probably no better -- does anyone know a source for actual pillow dimensions of various masks/sizes? I'm pretty sure I know what I need -- a wider pillow -- but I've googled a lot, no luck.

Thanks, all. Not an easy transition, but y'all know that already....

(I have some other concerns/questions that I might bring back to the group with data, but trying to at least get a mask I can wear for a full night before sharing known-bad data/experiences.)

Wow! Had not heard of this mask style -- will get one and try going full scuba :).

Thank you, LSAT!
