New Resmed 11 vs Dreamstation

Post by kinimtennis » Mon Apr 14, 2025 11:51 pm

I couldn’t find a post about this so would like an honest answer. I had to switch out my loaner Dreamstation for the new Resmed as per insurance . I cannot believe how uncomfortable I am with the Resmed . I am getting so much air in my belly that even after an hour I’m having to turn the machine off. I have the same mask and headset as before . Also the tank doesn’t seem to hold as much water and it runs out despite it being on the same humidity setting of 5. I was so desperate the second night I had it that I adjusted the pressures downward and called my RT who had set it up thinking she had made an error . But she hadn’t and now even with the slightly lower pressures I’m still having this issue. I’m also not a mouth breather yet I’m waking up frequently with a very dry mouth. I do like the technology and app features but I honestly hate this machine for the main issue that it is causing extreme bloating ! I will be calling my RT back tomorrow as I’ve had this issue 4/6 days since using it. Anyone else have similar issues?

This statement doesn't make sense.

There is no correlation between the humidity setting on a ResMed and on a Dreamstation.

This is like saying there was more coke in my McDonalds coke than in my Wendy's coke despite them both being medium.

And FWIW, the Resmed tank hold 380ml, while the DreamStation 325ml.

Lower the humidifier setting.

There is nothing inherently different about the ResMed machine that would cause Aerophagia, while the DreamStation wouldn't. The are both pushing air.

Having said that, they do have a difference in algorithms. It's possible the difference in flex vs EPR or responsiveness might be contributing to your Aerophagia.

Less pressure might help.

In a post last year, you complained of aerophagia, that would have been on a DreamStation.
