Help

Post by personsw3 » Thu Mar 06, 2025 8:50 pm

I have center sleep apnea and asv doesn’t seem to helo just gets my ahi down to 0 with oxygen levels still dropping at this point I am at a lose of what to do and trying to see a sleep medicine doctor asap. I am at high altitude but also suspect brain damage is playing a role what should I do. By oxygen is their any setting for asv I should definitely try. I tried the “default settings” no luck. My titration study for cpap recommended a constant pressure of 7 but that leaves me waking up 6 times per hour with oxygen drops. I am so lost I am fighting so hard but am starting to give up that I will ever sleep. I am in Colorado at high altitude if anybody has anything else I could try this is an sos call I guess.

You've been posting since October.
Now you tell us you're at high altitude.
People at high altitude often benefit from added oxygen. Which means: sleeping nightly with an oxygen concentrator.

You started with APAP, you mentioned BiPAP (that is, a bi-level machine) and now you're talking of an ASV.
You've understandably removed the link to your sleep study on which you left your name and the doctor's name on the last page. It would help if you reposted it, with names redacted.

Are you changing machines (and getting them) on your own?
This is not a game.
The median breathing reported on you SleepHQ link, on an APAP, is very high.

Go to a doctor, get a full night's professional oxygen measurement, and see if the doctor doesn't think supplemental oxygen will help you.

Just want to say that I agree with everything ozij has told you. She's spot on with her advice for what you need to do.

You need to get to a sleep doc. And you need a full night's worth of professional data, including both your sleep staging and your oxygen levels, to see what's really going on. (Personally, I think you need to have an in-lab sleep test done---one that is monitored by a tech while you sleep.) And you need to take seriously whatever the sleep doc who reads the study says about a potential need for nighttime O2 supplementation.
