11 VAuto setting review

Hi All,

New to the forum and find loads of useful information.

I was on prescribed setting for a few months now.
Min Epap 4
Max Ipap 18
PS 4
Ti Max 2 sec
Ti Min 0.3 sec

I am pretty happy with the result and am thinking to get an ASV soon.
So I visited the specialist then she suggested a new setting
Min Epap 6
Max Ipap 15
PS 1.8
Ti Max 3 sec

I tried for a night and didn't feel the difference

What will be a better setting for me and should I get an ASV ?

Why do you think that you need to try ASV?

I am hoping that ASV can offer better comfort.
plus if I can get the right pressure support.

What do you want in terms of comfort that you don't have now? Meaning how do you think ASV would be more comfortable.
ASV is far from comfortable and the pressure support can vary....which can be good or bad.
It's not the miracle machine some people think it is.
Plus without a proven need your insurance is going to balk at paying for such an expensive machine and they are quite pricey.

First, I want to say I agree with Pugsy: There's nothing in your data that indicates you might need an ASV and expecting an ASV to be "more comfortable" is not realistic.

I assume the new settings were suggested in an effort to increase your comfort using the machine.

So that begs the questions:

What are your comfort issues? Be as specific as you can in describing them.

What did you tell the specialist before she suggested the new settings? Be as specific as you can in describing them.

You ask:

What will be a better setting for me and should I get an ASV ?

Without knowing what your comfort problems are, there is no way for us to make any kind of reasonable suggestions on how to tweak the settings on your Resmed AirCurve 10 VAuto.

After reading more post on the site, I have a better idea.

The level of comfort I mentioned would probably be the right setting for me.

Initially the setting were mostly default and I didn't felt uncomfortable.

I was scheduled to follow up with the specialist, which another one turned up,
after reading data from the card, she suggested to raise min epap and lower ps.
She said give it a try, you will feel more comfortable.

I'm hoping if an advanced machine can provide accurate or suitable setting for me, it would be worthwhile to get it.

Anyway, I am happy with result, but because two specialist gave two different setting,
just want to make sure.

It would help us help you if we knew how you felt uncomfortable.

Many new PAPers feel uncomfortable. But how they feel uncomfortable varies dramatically. And the right thing to try for Person A can easily make Person B's discomfort substantially worse, and vice versa.

Did the increase in min EPAP and the lower PS make you more comfortable or less comfortable? You still haven't told us that. This kind of a settings change can make some people a lot more comfortable. But it can also make other people a lot more uncomfortable. It all depends on what kinds of problems you are having that are making you uncomfortable while trying to sleep with the machine.

I'm hoping if an advanced machine can provide accurate or suitable setting for me, it would be worthwhile to get it.

Again, without knowing what kind of comfort problems you are dealing with, it's impossible to say whether a different machine might make you more comfortable.

I actually feel ok from first setting.
and after a few nights now with the new setting, I feel pretty similar, no major difference.

I am just curious two different specialist gave different suggestion.
One based on tester and one based on data in the card.

If there's anything you can spot from my data, I would love to learn a bit more.
