Machine recommendations
hello I am technically owed a machine by my vendor however the process is very drawn out and at this point I am looking to buy one out of pocket. my diagnosis is moderate /severe central apnea with 26.0 AHI, no EPR recommended, and pressure range 6-16. For those with similar diagnoses, which machine worked best for you in lowering AHI?

Are You sure You have Central Apnea not obstructive apnea ??
They require different machines .. To My knowledge central apneas
need an ASV to treat them .. The ASV is the most expensive machine
and more difficult to find ..
Obstructive Apnea uses an Apap machine which is much easier to find ..
Can You attach Your Sleep study Without Personally Identifying information
It will help with a reccomedation ..

Re: Machine recommendations
How was this diagnosis determined?
Are you newly diagnosed? If you have been using CPAP, which machine model?
If you had a study, please post the summary page.
Which model machine was prescribed?

"Sleep study was diagnostic of moderate central sleep apnea with apnea plus hypopnea index of 25.6 events per hour severe in REM with index of 32.6 events per hour. Slight oxygen desaturation. Mild periodic limb movement with index of 7.3 events per hour. Arousals were predominantly respiratory. Loud snoring recorded.
This woman developed moderate to severe central sleep apnea. CPAP treatment will be initiated with APAP "
I'm aware they likely prescribed my apap to be less costly insurance wise. Of the ASV machines I researched, it seems between Resmed ASV or Philips autoSV , are they equally as good?

Re: Machine recommendations
plaguedwench;
Philips is out of the Cpap/Apap/ASV equipment market in the USA.
There recalled equipment and legal problems resulted in an agreement
with the US goverment to stop selling there equipment in the US ..
If You already have a Resmed machine going to an ASV in the same series
10 or 11 will allow You to use or reuse any supplies You already have water tanks,
climateline, and inlet filters ..
Best of luck

Re: Machine recommendations
I have a Philips ASV machine with over 15,000 hours use.
When I checked with Philips they said it was NOT on their recall list.
I replaced it 5 years ago with a Resmed ASV which is now my backup machine and I have a newer Resmed ASV.
I would be willing to sell my old Phillips for $100. It could be used Temporarily while you sort out acquisition of a new machine.
It still worked fine last time I used it as my travel machine about a year and a half ago.
