brand new to CPAP, advice on min pressure please

Post by calvera » Tue Jun 04, 2024 6:11 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am new to CPAP and have had a little over 3 weeks of therapy so far. I have been using Oscar, which is still pretty Greek to me. I have my min pressure at 9 and my max pressure at 15 with EPR @3.
If my 95% pressure has always been over 10 (99.9% of the time), should I have my minimum at 10? The last 4 days, my AHI has been 0.58, 0.68, 0.39, and 0.31 today. I feel ok, better than when I started for sure, still tired in general.

Here's today's Oscar, if it helps... https://imgur.com/XCp6BVk

Thanks in advance for any advice!

How are you sleeping?

How are you feeling?

I see no reason to increase the minimum. On paper you look great.

Hey Pugsy!

Thanks for the reply. I'm sleeping okay—better than I was 3 weeks ago. A few days ago, I had the best sleep in years. I slept for 6 hours, which is long for me; I typically get about 2 hours of sleep, wake up, and try to get back to sleep, which is not always successful. Last night wasn't great, but I'm crossing my fingers that tonight will be better. The last several years have been terrible, but I do feel a change with the CPAP therapy in the last few weeks. Most of my problems lately have been mask-related; I'm still trying to figure out the best one for me, although this P10 that I've used for the last 4 days is the best so far.

I feel better, although I am still tired for the most part. I have had a few energy bursts the last few days, which doesn't happen often. I look forward to getting a nice 7+ hour routine going every night. That would be awesome.

Thanks for your advice. I will stick with these numbers for now.

Well.....maybe you need more than 5 hours of sleep. Most people need more than 5 hours of sleep to feel their best no matter what kind of data they see on their reports.

How come the short night???

There is so much more to feeling the good numbers than just getting them.

Agreed, I would love to sleep a solid 7+
Typically, it's mask issues that are getting me up earlier
I hear you on the numbers. I learned in my first week that a good number doesn't translate to feeling better.
I was surprised to get that 0.00 today (the first time), I would gladly trade that in for a 5.0 to sleep longer and feel better.
I'll get there, thanks, Pugsy.
