Safety Concern on the Lowenstein Prisma 20a

Post by jlsmithseven » Tue May 07, 2024 7:39 am

Hi I wanted to make a thread about this topic because I just have a bad feeling when anything foam is put inside or near a cpap machine. My plan is to get this Lowenstein machine because of the overwhelming positive reviews on it. The thing that is still holding me up is the foam filter. They say to wash it monthly and replace every 6 months. Which is great to have that kind of maintenance. But it still gives me a bad feeling because it looks very similar to the phillips recall of their machines. Now I understand this is a much better company with history, but that doesn’t give me a peace because many good companies can still make mistakes. I just know how anything foam is, it breaks down. And to have that near a tube feeding almost directly to my lungs just worries me a little. Could someone please give me some insight on this further. Thank you.

Company tells me it is a much better grade of foam that would not have the same problems of others. The recommended 6-month filter change makes foam degradation even less possible. I ordered extras with my Lowenstein Prisma 20a order. I think it was $12 for a 3-pack. There is an additional filter used in this machine. They are just a few dollars for a 12-pack.

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense and I do trust this company much more than Phillips. The fact that you can change it and that its much better quality than the Furniture Foam that Phillips put in their machine gives me a lot of ease. Ordering now! Although shipping isn't free to USA, how did you guys get free shipping?

I didn't get free shipping. It was $94 Australian dollars which converts to approx. $62.00 USD. Use promotion code AUTUMN24 (check for accuracy on website) and they reduce the price $100 Australian Dollars. More than pays for the shipping costs. They told me it would take about seven days. I'm in Nevada so it may take/cost a bit more in the Eastern US.

You are comparing sound abatement foam (Philips - PE-PUR) with air filter foam (Lowenstein - polyester).

I didn't think I was making such a comparison.

Okey-dokey.

Comments that address someone other than the OP should so indicate as this comment does.
