understanding AHI

I am 85 years of age. I have been using a CPAP for about 10 years and I and my cardiologist think that it is of great help. During my last visit, he put me onto better monitoring my nightly sessions. I use a RES MED AIR SENSE 11 which is set at 12. After searching, I determined that my AHI is 15.8. I do not notice that my breathing strokes are irregular during the night. Except for tightening my full face mask, I am not sure if I am able to bring that number down. Looking over the site I see that a moderate reading would be 15 to 29.9. So that would be a good reading, Any tips to maintaining my use of the CPAP?

What is the breakdown into each event category (OA, hyponeas, central) of that 15 ish AHI?

Does your machine have a SD card in the slot?

15 AHI is way too high....but to bring it down we first have to know what it is made up of because different causes of the higher AHI might need different methods of treatment.
So can't tell you what you need to do without knowing more details.

Most here like to see our AHI below 2 at least below 5.

If you are not computer saavy do you have a family member who could help you download some software that can help find tune your therapy?

I just learned of the fact that my machine would have a measurement of an event of apnea. I'll have to look into how much detail I'll be able to read on my machine. I seem to be behind the curve when it comes to reading and understanding the numbers and whatever else I need to make an accurate reading. I have a slot on the side of my machine, but no card. I am not savvy when it comes to any of this.I am sort of stumbling in the dark. I'll have to look into it and would appreciate any guidance.

The sleep report will show you the AHI breakdown. It won't show as much detail as the SD card and software reports but it will do until you can get a SD card (any generic SD card will work but don't go spending a lot of money on a fancy big capacity card as it isn't needed).

The manual at the above link will explain how to access the data on that sleep report.

Where did you get the 15.8 number from? If not from the cpap screen?
