Accidentally erasing stored data on CPAP machine

Post by sleepingbetter0209 » Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:31 pm

I came across a video online that suggested that I have to change the time zone on my Airsense 11 CPAP device. This is because of Daylight savings time. the video instructed me that in order to change to correct time zone, I needed to erase stored data on machine since I have a back up on my SD card of all data from machine. I proceeded to follow these steps and then panic set in--- I am half way through compliance period with new insurance company and I came across earlier post that stated insurance company goes by physical storage on machine. Is there anyone out there in CPAP land that can help reassure me that My last 6 1/2 weeks of consistent use will be counted? I have all the statistics on my SD card and it shows compliance, etc. I don't want to pay for the machine out pocket when I have been faithfully using it and made a stupid mistake of erasing the data on the machine.

Call up your equipment supplier and tell them what you have done.

6 1/2 weeks....if your usage has been constant and enough then it is entirely possible you have met the usage requirements already and it won't matter.
All depends on your insurance....if it is similar to Medicare's requirements all you have to do is use the machine for at least 4 hours for 21 out of 30 consecutive nights.

I can totally change the time on my Airsense 10;
But I choose not to. DST is stupid.
Once I retired, I no longer have to play that damn game.

Additionally, to be on the safe side, do not return the SD card into the machine, in case it now decides to reformat it. The card has proof of you preivios usage, since it contain the machine's serial number. You can insist on it being read the supplier.

Get another card for further documentation.

What game is that? I'm retired too but I still like to know what the correct time is once in a while.

I have clocks for that--on the wall, nightstand, microwave, and phone.
When I wear a watch, it's there, too.
The time is not readily visible on my Airsense, so why bother?
If the cpap clock updated from the net, like my phone or computer, it might be useful.
Since it does not, and it cannot be seen without a crapload of button pushing . . . Nope.

I just navigated my AirSense 11 set-up menus, and I can't see where there is an option to adjust the time.

I do see a timezone setting that I can adjust. But that is about it.

What happens to my OSCAR timestamped data with the Daylight Savings Time changeover?

Prior ResMed machines (pre Series 11 machines) all had a clock that was fairly easy to set or change.
With the release of the Series 11 machines that clock went away and the only way to adjust the time is to change the time zone...that's fine and not that difficult but no one can change the time zone if there is data stored on the machine relating to the old time zone without erasing all the prior data. Not that big of a deal if you don't need any of that old data for some reason or other but could be a problem if someone is within compliance usage monitoring time frame or someone simply doesn't want to not have that old data available for whatever reason.

We can fix the time using OSCAR by utilizing the clock drift feature in OSCAR
Preferences....cpap tab....upper left corner. Ignore the warning about "you should be using your clock and reset the clock" and just adjust one way or another for the DST change. That way your times will be correct and you didn't have to erase your data and actually it's probably a little simpler than changing the clock. Also less risk of screw ups while changing the clock...which I have done by mistake...and we accidentally mess with the date and that opens up a whole other can of worms requiring even more work to fix.

I have a machine that has a clock but I use the OSCAR clock drift thing....it's less work for me.

Unless someone just HAS to have exact time of starting and stopping the machine it's not the end of the world if the times are off by an hour or so. DMEs and doctors don't look at the time as much as they just look at total hours used and the AHI.
Hours slept is hours slept no matter what time it says.

So, the game that you refer to is the game of setting the time on your cpap machine? But you played that game before you retired and don't now. You reset the other clocks in the house, right?

Not sure what this has to do with anything but ok.
