Airsense 11 upgrade - Disappointed

Post by jhg » Sun Feb 18, 2024 8:07 pm

Long-term CPAP user (over 20 years).

My provider replaced my 5+ yo Airsense 10 with an Airsense 11, and I am finding it rather disappointing.
  • It makes more noise than my Airsense 10. By an unscientific comparison with an iPhone dB meter, about 10dB more one foot away. I couldn't hear the Airsense 10 but definitely hear the 11.
  • A full humidifier tank does not last a full 8 hours on Auto setting, where on the Airsense 10 I could get up to 10 hours (on those rare occasions when I slept that long :-)
  • When the water level gets low it makes a gurgling sound. I've verified that this is not moisture collecting in the tubing; I have the heated tubing.
  • On occasion the humidifier tank does not seal correctly and I have to remove and replace it several times to get a good seal.
Both of the noise issues seem to stem from the cost-cutting change in the design of the humidifier tank. On the 10, the input pipe has a diffuser that prevents the air from impacting directly into the surface of the water. This is completely missing on the 11 so the full force of the air stream is directed into the water surface, which causes the gurgling when the water level gets low. On the 10 the diffuser and chamber sealing gasket are a separate replaceable part. On the 11 the gasket is integrated into the lid and there is no diffuser. See the linked photos.

The only thing that seems to have improved slightly is EPR, on the 10 it was sometimes a bit laggy but it's better on the 11.

Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Exactly why I never jump on the latest and greatest anything esp. cell phones, cars, etc. Always give them time to work out the bugs.

Any chance your DME will swap it out for you?
If not, maybe someone on here will swap with you?
Happiness is being on Dog Slobber pr & zonkers foe list

Maybe that’s why they still sell the 10.
