High events per hour when awake

Post by richardjh101 » Sat Feb 10, 2024 12:49 pm

I’m using a airCurve 10 BIPAP and lately my events per hour when I’m awake goes up compared to when I’m asleep. I can’t understand why this is happening. I’m quite aware of my breathing when awake. I don’t understand why this is happening. Early into last year I had .2 events per hour and now I don’t even come close to that.

Neither does the machine. The machine is programmed to understand sleep-breathing. The machine is not programmed to understand awake-breathing.

My understanding is that one's fully-awake breathing does not have anything to do with disturbances to one's sleep during the night.

But if I felt my airway was closing as I started to become drowsy and was starting to fall asleep, I would (1) turn off ramp. If that alone didn't fix the problem and I was using auto, then I would (2) also raise minimum pressure.

In fact, I found I had to do both those things in order to make a success of PAP. Others don't.
There are two types of people in the world: (1) Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
