Although, so far, I have been completely unable to find any device capable of training me to keep my mouth shut when I get the urge to post in this forum.
Tongue tied doesn't help much in forums.... on the other hand, finger tied may work. But I'm highly against it, because then all those wonderful ideas may blow your own mind, and none the wiser - a pity since we do get wiser on forums -- sometimes.

Ask a tech if ya wanna know about how to set up sleep tests. Ask a doc--or even better, an RRT--if ya wanna know about breathing in general. And ask experienced patients in forums if ya wanna know about practical hints for effectively streamlining and tweaking of home treatment equipment for simple OSA.
Exactly.
Back in the olden days, your best info about your sleep came from a sleep lab with techs and their equipment. And all they had was data for one night, in a strange enviroment, with wires and stuff all over a persons body. There used to be no data-recording CPAP's, and no software for us CPAP needers.
Nowadays nobody knows more about sleeping night in night out with a CPAP than a person who had learned how to do it, and is doing it successfully.

Nothing was taken out of context. As I said, the Reddit "sleep tech" was only concerned about mouth inhaling. They were clueless about mouth leak and contradicted the person who explained it.
OK even if you had the SFI what you're talking about why didn't you challenge him there instead of of whining about it here?

Honestly, the title RSPGT does not instill me with confidence.
IDK if the poster ridinbend is actually RPSGT (NM found it-- AAMOF he's the board moderator)

Does like the trendy term "oral venting" tho.

Taking a simple concept and Rube Goldberging it.

Might be a bad sign.

Might have been able to get a better idea if this discussion went a little bit deeper, but it didn't:

NM I'll do it myself:

OK I stand corrected. Guy has NFI what he's talking about.

Another supposed RPSGT that has apparently ridden around the bend.

Probably one of the ones once seeking disciples here but that the Dave_CT dude ran off from cpaptalk.com years ago.

Y'know, I read this
ridinbend wrote: If you were to go through REM on your back end the machine takes you up to 12cm after event recognition and then after REM you roll to your side and the machine is holding at 12cm because it doesn't lower pressure on auto mode, in that side position in NREM your treatment pressure is 7 and now your getting 5 additional cm of air. You're going to vent that extra pressure out your mouth.
And I'm like, I must be wrong. Can anybody actually be that stupid?

This is an embarrassment to the field.

Well, Caveat Emptor. Welcome to the internet.

Well duh, if it's not lowering pressure then maybe there's a good reason for that?

I mean, does this boy even know how the algorithms work?

Another rhetorical question...

Some online-posting techs think treatment machines work in much the same way that the tech himself does: punching in random pressures all night while waiting for the overnight guests to hit supine REM, in between checking his Facebook page and watching cat videos on YouTube all night.
