Stomach discomfort
This will be my third night using a cpap. I’m using the Airfit F20 mask. I’ve always had trouble at night with my nose plugging up. I’ve tried Flonase which made my nose bleed and it drained down my throat. I’ve taken a decongestant too and it doesn’t help. Last night I slept almost 8 hours but I kept catching myself with my mouth open and my cheeks puffed out. My throat was so dry that I could barely swallow. This morning my stomach hurt and I’ve had diarrhea. Is this normal? Also I’ve read where getting a good night sleep that you will lose weight. Then I’ve read where you gain weight. Which is it? I have high blood pressure and the medication I take for it causes me to have bradycardia. Will a cpap effect this? Sorry for all the questions!
Re: Stomach discomfort
Have you tried nasal lavage?
Never heard of diarrhea as a side effect of CPAP
Sleep apnea can be a cause of high blood pressure, when it's properly treated you blood pressure may improve.

Re: Stomach discomfort
I have a netty pot if that’s what you mean. I do take medicine for my blood pressure.
Re: Stomach discomfort
can you tell us which machine you use?
or better still, can you go to your equipment profile and fill it out? that way, it'll show up at the bottom of each of your posts, as mine does below.
good luck!

Re: Stomach discomfort
Going to try a mask that fits just over my nose. I have a feeling I will be mouth breathing. They’re going to send me a chin strap too. This is such a hassle!
Re: Stomach discomfort
do you know how to get into the settings and change the humidity?

Yes, a netty pot, or another means of rinsing.Sophiesmom wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 9:35 amI have a netty pot if that’s what you mean. I do take medicine for my blood pressure.

Re: Stomach discomfort
assuming you're answering me, you can change the humidly setting upwards to see if it helps with the dry mouth.

Re: Stomach discomfort
I switched to my first mask which is the Dream something that just fits under your nostrils and over the mouth. I was able to breathe better and actually fell asleep. I kept catching myself with my jaw dropping down and my mouth slightly opened even though I was breathing out of my nose. I can’t seem to keep the jaw from being so relaxed and dropping down. I may try a chin strap. Has anyone experienced this?
Re: Stomach discomfort
may i recommend a firm foam cervical collar? you can find one in your local pharmacy in the aisle that has canes and walkers and such. or at amazon, like this example-Sophiesmom wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 12:35 pmI switched to my first mask which is the Dream something that just fits under your nostrils and over the mouth.
