20+ year CPAP user.
I recently bought a ResMed AirSense 10, and I'm having issues with it. I need to replace it, but I need to make sure the new machine won't have the same issue. This will take some explaining, so bear with me.
My apnea is fairly severe, and I have to run a minimum pressure of 6. I also have to use the maximum exhalation relief.
My problem with the AirSense is that it doesn't always deliver the minimum pressure--in fact, there are times when it delivers no pressure at all.
When I exhale, the machine stops delivering pressure. All well and good. But after I finish exhaling, the AirSense 10 doesn't start delivering pressure again until I inhale.
The problem? There's a short lag between the time I start inhaling and the time the machine starts delivering pressure again. Trying to inhale without any pressure is freaking me out, and the cumulative anxiety is destroying my sleep.
I haven't been able to adjust to this, so I have to replace the machine. I have to do this out of pocket, and I just spent $700 on the AirSense 10. So I have to look at the lower end of the price range.
I'd love to hear from anybody who uses a React Health Luna II or a ResVent iBreeze and see if these machines have the same issue.
Thanks in advance.
Need alternative to AirSense 10
Re: Need alternative to AirSense 10
from what i gather, you have a min pressure of 6, but an epr setting of 3 (max epr for the as10). that will lower your exhale pressure to 3, which i'm not ever sure that machine will do.
did a dme tech setup this machine, or did you do these on your own? what did your sleep study data say would be the best therapy mode for you?
i'm not sure if you are thinking you'd be a candidate for bipap, but your dr would have recommended that. did you mention what your max pressure is set to? I would raise the minimum pressure to at least 7 (if not more) and see if that helps, before bailing on the machine.

Post some Oscar charts, showing the "Mask Pressure" chart, because that shows actual *measured* pressure.

Which was your previous machine?
What settings?
What kind pressure relief?
