Heart Problems

Post by DoktorSpengler » Sun Nov 26, 2023 4:31 pm

Hello,

My CPAP data for last night doesn't look that bad, but my heart feels like I didn't sleep at all last night.

I had gotten up to 6+ hours a night on CPAP in November, but now I'm really backsliding and feeling worse in general.

Does anyone see anything actionable in the data? EDIT: it won't let me attach anything

Do you have a known heart condition and are the symptoms you're experiencing common with your heart condition? What types of symptoms? Chest pain? Heart Rhythm issues? Have you called your doctor?

If you don't have a known heart condition, what symptoms are you experiencing?

Hello,

I have no known heart problem. In fact, I've had multiple EKG, echocardiogram checkouts and nothing.

The problem is that my heart feels like it skips a beat. There is a fluttering or falling sensation in the chest. This is followed by a feeling like I may black out.

Other times, my chest just hurts. My heart beats irregularly and there is pain in the chest near the heart.

In my experience, these symptoms always correlate with poor sleep. When I get better sleep, I don't have them.

Have you had a test using a Holter monitor or some similar monitor that can record your heartbeat for days or weeks?

I have atrial fibrillation (AFIB).

Your symptoms sound very familiar.

I suggest you contact your doctor/cardiologist and arrange for a Holter monitor as suggested by Janknitz.

I have been tested several times over the years, and have confirmed I have silent, constant AFIB. I do notice it occasionally.

I had been experiencing similar symptoms and what they were were premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), what seems like a pause in the beat followed by a strong beat. They used to occur somewhat frequently and seemed related to an occasional indulgence of alcoholic beverages. When I started CPAC I completely stopped alcohol and the PVC's have been far and few between. Alcohol (a glass of red wine typically) in the evening did affect affect my sleep adversely. The PVC's would typically occur during the day after a drink or two the evening prior. My doctor said occasional PVC's are somewhat common and generally of not much concern as long as no other heart related symptoms are going on. A Holter monitor will show PVC's.

Recently did wear a Holter monitor for 7 days that did reveal a PVC or two.....
