Why Your DME Requires an Annual Prescription

Just this weekend I was in Vegas at my daughter's house when my short hose developed a leak. It was the only replacement part I didn't have with me. Went to a local cpap store and they wanted $55 for the short hose. but they let me buy the full mask kit for $104. No prescription needed. ‍♀️ I thought prescriptions were required for a full mask. Apparently not in Nevada.

Nevada has weird laws. I check my blood sugar to keep on track avoiding full-blown diabetes but my lancing device broke when I was visiting my daughter in Henderson. I tried to buy a new lancing device and was told they couldn't sell that without a prescription. But they could sell me disposable ones. I can just prick my finger with the lancet (or a safety pin!), but easier with the device.

Yeah agreed on the weird laws but looks like I am going to need to continue to take advantage of it as my script is expired and telehealth won't write for dme supplies. I'll just order and have my daughter pick up there for me. Not really a hardship since I'm there fairly frequently. Went this weekend and saw Penn and Teller Saturday and Billy Idol Friday. Both were fantastic.

So how would having a different plan make up for the medical team (she has) not wanting to write another RX without
forcing another doctor visit who she says would make her go see another sleep doc....which she obviously doesn't want to do.

Now don't be an asswipe ....

I asked a legitimate question as to why YOU thought having a different Medicare plan of some sort would make her doc or DME make it easy for getting a current RX. You are the one touting changing plans as the fix all for everything.
I thought and thought about it but I can't see how having a different advantage plan would change the assholes at the doctor and DME office...nor if someone had straight Medicare with or without a supplement would make the assholes change their mind.

Now maybe there is something somewhere that might get it done but I just couldn't imagine it.
I was just asking if you thought of something that I hadn't or you just wanted to sneak in another mention as to open enrollment time again.

There's always the option to doctor shop but she's got that option right now as it is.

I'm not old enough for medicare. Some of us still have to work for a living. We don't get to just willy nilly change insurance companies once a year. And if they keep raising that age I might never get there. My late husband didn't.

I had no idea but afaik employers also allow for benefits updates during the same time frame. Mine always did.

Mine gives you the option of choosing the one health insurance they have or you can choose not to have insurance.

Perhaps another medic may be persuaded to update your old prescription--
as an act of charity for a poor widow.
Try a free clinic, for example.

Thanks. I probably should just doctor shop. I don't
like my primary. I am just having a hard time finding the will to care. Doctors are so much work and I dislike most of them. They can practice on someone else.

I'm not hurting yet. I have one back up
mask. I just like to keep 2 available. I've got plenty of cushions. I'll either get the pieces off of amazon or buy another mask from that store in Vegas.

Why would I pay to see a specialist who has never helped me in the past ? I have a sleep study, I won't ever be doing one of those again either. I think you are confusing me with another poster.

I thought you were looking for a script for a cpap mask? Not a sleep study. But the primary on your plan won't do it and suggested you see a sleep doc? What am I missing?

Didn't know you would have to pay to see the doc but that is why I mentioned changing your health insurance plan to something with better coverage.
