What are some signs that EPAP pressure needs to be higher?
I don’t understand how EPAP helps to prevent obstructions to your airway. Isn’t that what IPAP does? And EPAP is just the pressure resistance as you’re exhaling? Is EPAP only about comfort as you’re exhaling? Is there a benefit in raising the EPAP pressure? Does it actually help keep the airway open?

Re: EPAP Pressure
EPR lowers the pressure when you exhale.
When the pressure is lower, your airway is more apt to collapse. And keep you from inhaling, even before IPAP is applied.
Keep in mind that both inhale pressure and exhale pressure are there to keep your airway from collapsing. The don't "blow open" obstructions. They're there to prevent them.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Didn’t get a notification for your reply for some reason. Thanks, that makes sense. Is EPR the same as pressure support?ozij wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 11:10 amEPR lowers the pressure when you exhale.

Re: EPAP Pressure
Both refer to the difference between inhale pressure and exhale pressure.
The technological implementation and the way the machines create that difference is not identical.
But both aim at making exhaling easier.

Re: EPAP Pressure
No, EPAP is what holds your airway open so that you can take another breath, if EPAP is too low, then you can't start to take a breath, because your airway is blocked, and IPAP never comes in to play.
EPAP is the pressure *between inhalations*.
Are you confusing EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure) and EPR (Expiratory Pressure Relief)?

Re: EPAP Pressure
EPR is the *opposite* of pressure support, EPR DROPS pressure, PS RAISES pressure.Jtg073 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 9:22 pmDidn’t get a notification for your reply for some reason.
