I was able to download my at home sleep study. The report is sent to my primary care doctor and then I will have an appointment with her. I'm not sure she will understand everything on this report, so I was hoping someone here might be able to help me. I can't find much as to normal range for pRHI and ODI... and I'm also not sure what the REM Latency means.
pRDI: 189 (total events) 37.5 (all night)
pAHl4%: 176 (total events) 34.9 (all night)
ODl4%: 236 (total events) 46.8 (all night)
Sleep Latency (min): 5
REM Latency (min): 425
Number of Wakes: 43

The doctors recommendations read as follows: Due to severity of underlying sleep disordered breathing an in lab CPAP titration study is recommended . If this is not allowed by the patient's insurance, then consider a trial of AutoPAP pressure of 5-15 cm H2O, wearing a suitable interface and download data after 6 to 12 weeks to check for compliance and efficacy. I recommend referring the patient to my sleep clinic if she cannot tolerate positive pressure therapy.
I know that I will need a CPAP, but I do like to know what all the different scores are besides that I don't get a good nights sleep.
Does anyone have any recommendations I should be prepared for to ask my doctor when I see her to discuss the results?

Apnea = cessation of breathing for 10 seconds or longer
The "p" preceding the numbers your report: because the measurement is based on the "peripheral arterial tone signal (PAT) and not on the measurement of air flow from your nose.

REM latency refers to the amount of time elapsed between the onset of sleep to the first REM stage

Which raises an interesting question. If your REM latency was 425 minutes (seven hours) that would suggest that your FIRST REM stage occurred after seven hours.
OTOH, your pAHI of 34.9 with 176 events (all night) would calculate to five hours. and was considered to be "all night"
The other interesting datapoint is "43 wakes", were those "wakes" caused by apneas, or a neighborhood dog barking, shifting position in bed or some other non-respiratory causes?

Yes, 42.5 minutes is much more plausible (particularly in light of a 5 minute sleep latency).
And being "awakened" 43 times over the course of 5 hours is certainly not helpful to "peaceful, restful sleep".
