Sleep study test results. No longer have sleep apnea?
Sleep study test results. No longer have sleep apnea?
My last sleep study was 3 years ago I had an ahi of 12 extremely exhausted in the afternoon. It improves somewhat with the CPAP machine. I thought it was time to get another test to see where I stand. I got the report today and I'm reading what the doctor who reviewed it said. He said I got up a great deal during the stuy but the episodes are not when I get up and there's only an average of two per hour and yet I think it also said I slept only three or four hours. I just don't understand how I can only be two episodes an hour now and I feel like crap when I don't use the machine. In addition when I had the sleep study I was kept up for hours by a person who had dementia who was yelling in the other room. I was thinking maybe I could post the reports from 3 years ago and this most recent and see what people have to say. When I look at Oscar using a higher pressure along with finding a way to seal my mouth the numbers are relatively low this is getting confusing. I really have never seen numbers under five until lately when I use it slightly higher pressure.

Did you not use the machine for a few days prior to the new sleep study or did you use your machine right up to the night before you had the new sleep study?

I did use it up until the night of the test. I asked the sleep lab I asked the sleep doctor would there be an impact they all said no.

I'm curious: why do you have another sleep study coming up so soon?
Also, it is sometimes recommended that people stop using their machines about a week in advance of a new sleep test, to avoid carry-over effects.
Bob313 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 12:29 pmThe reason for the new test is that I have lost about 25 lb since the first test. In addition I want to get a clean start as to where I'm headed.

You mentioned something about doctors wanting a person to not use CPAP before a test. Do you have any references to that subject?
Guess you decided to prefer the lab and the doctor to the references we gave you.GrumpyHere wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 1:44 pmhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25487311/something about doctors wanting a person to not use CPAP before a test.

How about telling us first what the doctor had to say in response to all these questions you have? What did s/he say when he took the time to compare the two studies? What did s/he suggest you do from now on?Bob313 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:19 pmI just don't understand how I can only be two episodes an hour now and I feel like crap when I don't use the machine.
