J Coleman CPAP Reports

Post by jcoleman1967 » Mon Jul 31, 2023 2:17 pm

This is continuation from my earlier post (CPAP Reports).

I wanted to update my status since increasing my minimum to 7 on pressure (it started between min. 4 and max. 20 then changed to min. 5 and max. 13). So, I increased my min. to 7, started to sleep on my side instead of my back and put partial tape over my lips. My AHI has now gone down to between 1 and 4 consistently from readings of 6 to 15. I am using tape because when I sleep on my side, I will drool some and get a little saliva in my mask which makes it uncomfortable. Please let me know if this is not recommended. I do believe it helps. I am ecstatic over my improved AHI readings. Should I raise my pressure up a little more (maybe 8?) and should I discontinue using the tape over my lips?

I actually use tape over half of my lips (right side). Just the thought of covering all my lips made me concerned. I'm reading that it is not good for you. Please advise.

For those following along, see viewtopic/t186958/CPAP-reports.html

It's helpful if you keep everything in one thread. For example, I just posted in your other thread about taping, which you also ask about here.

Do you have any way to tell what the breakdown for your events is (obstructive apneas, hypopneas, central apneas)? The best answer to your question about increasing your minimum would be an answer based on that information.

It's good to hear you're making progress by the numbers. Are you feeling more rested?

One thread can go on for an extended period, each time addressing new issues,
by simply editing the title of the first post, and bumping to the top with a new last post,
with the new info stated--thus establishing a new date.

or even without changing the title. here's a fine example-

people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will remember that about future threads.

Here is my last 2 weeks of data since changing my minimum pressure from 5 to 7. https://imgur.com/a/LFlgiIL

I am thinking of increasing my minimum pressure from 7 to 8 to see if I can improve on my average AHI of 3.8.
