Reslink users: Puise-oximetry data with blower turned off?

Post by noahmckinnon » Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:19 pm

I'm awaiting my AutoScan software and will do some tests when it arrives, but I'm curious if any Reslink module users have been able to get pulse-oximetry data from their units with the flow generator (i.e. the blower part of the pap unit) turned off. I'd like to do a few nights of oxygen testing with and without wearing a mask. From what I can gather though, data is only recorded when the flow generator is on.

I contact Resmed yesterday but haven't heard anything from them yet.

found out from Resmed

First of all, Resmed's email support stinks. This has been my second email to them without a repsonse. However, I called their 800 number and was promptly put through to a very helpful tech support person.

His answer to the question (sorry to bore you with a monologue) was that the pulse-oximetry data starts recording once the flow generator is turned on. It can then be turned it off and the pulse-oximeter will continue recording data. Very cool. The Autoscan software arrives tomorrow so I'll be able to actually see the results.

Wow, Noah...that's cool. I know you had to get the extra add on - the ResLink. I sure wish every autopap had recording pulse oximetry built in without having to get anything extra. Maybe someday they all will.

Noah,

I am using a ResMed AutoSet Spirit, and was considering getting the Reslink device. Of course insurance won't pay for it, and the $800 price tag is intimidating. I would appreciate you sharing your experiences with it and any opinions you may have.
