Hi there,
A few months ago, I bought a brand new Eson2 nasal mask, simply as the old one needed replacing. I used it with an F&P Icon, and everything was fine. Dead silent, happy me, partner.
Last night the machine packed it in. I had been putting it off due to finances, but today my hand was forced.
So I picked up my shiny new AirSense 10. It was configured with the same 9.0 cm-in-H2O as my previous machine, and to otherwise be "gentle" (with ramping etc).
I set it up in the bedroom just now, the machine is whisper quiet, and the sensation of breathing with it is very similar to the old machine.
However, when I inhale, air RUSHES out of the vent on my mask. It makes a very noticeable whoosh, even with the diffuser installed. Exhaling is nice and quiet however.
The same mask on my old Icon was dead quiet under all circumstances. What's going on here? Is there a setting I can change to make the machine less aggressive??
I'm contemplating going back to the store and swapping the mask for something else, maybe a Resmed nasal, though I'd really like to stick with the same mask I've used for the last 9 years if I can.

Note: some Airsense 10 machines are no longer on the pulldown menu;
I entered mine in the "comments" field.
Please note which MODEL Airsense 10 you have.
Hopefully, yours is an Autoset.

Of course. I've updated that information.
Yes, it's an AutoSet.
There is no air leaking arount the machine itself. No air leaking along the hose. No air leaking at the connection between the hose and the mask. No air leaking between the mask and my face. No air leaking from the "ball joint" type thing that lets the hose connection swivel on the mask.
Which is all to say, there is no leak at any connection other than the one I mentioned in the OP, and I wouldn't say it's a "leak". But rather just noisy.
My current impression is that the much narrower diameter RedMed tube vs the fatter F&P Icon tube has to do with it. Higher air velocity entering the mask, to get the same air flow-rate through the narrower hose. Something like this perhaps?

And again and again! I've spent hours in the meantime inspecting my handiwork.

I don't know the answer but you know you can use a regular diameter hose and see if the noise reduces or not.
You can use a regular diameter (the size of the Icon hose) non heated hose if you wish.
Just make sure that the hose diameter setting on the cpap machine reflects which size hose you are using.
