Has anybody ever had any dealings with ROS (Republic of Sleep) ?

Just looking for some general information Re the quality of the products they sell, location, etc., etc.

I've been using their air filters (the hypoallergenic ones) and like them far better than some others I was given for free. I had gotten ROS filters with my machine (I bought it used off someone), so when I needed more, I googled them, and discovered you can't buy directly from their site (unless you're a business), so searched out where they might carry them... and ordered more from CPAP.com

Unlike several of the people who've been here a long time, I was unaware the company is owned by the same people who own and run CPAP.com until I read this thread.

I received ROS brand filters from my local DME with my new ResMed AirCurve 10 VAUTO

So, I "assumed" ROS was selling wholesale to DMEs only.

The DME got the ResMed rep to give me 2 pks of 50 ResMed brand filters when I purchased my previous VAUTO 5 years ago.
With that stash & other ResMed brand filters I purchased from other DMEs during the 1st 3 years use of the 1st VAUTO, I still have a good supply of ResMed brand filters.

When compared side by side, the ResMed brand air filters are superior to all of the so-called generics.
But, alas, even I can't score the ResMed brand filters anymore.

Check out this place if you want name brand. I think he still sells name brand as well as generic.

And yes, seems like name brand does seem superior to most of the generics but I have compared some generics to the name brand filter and I couldn't tell any difference. All depends on the quality of the generic...some are good quality and some just plain suck.

If you can think of a supplier of decent generic filters, I would appreciate it.

When I complained once to a DME about the poor quality of generic filters he was selling, his response was that I should just use 2 filters at a time.
He was not happy when I laughed the whole time I was walking out of the door - leaving all of the other supplies behind that I had gone in to purchase.

Correct....cpapman supplier doesn't file insurance.
I don't know of anyone else who sells name brand filters ...much less who will file insurance.
I just always bought out of pocket and usually from Amazon which is where I saw some filters that were crap and some generic filters that when I laid one next to a name brand filter I couldn't tell the difference.
It's a crap shoot.

I quit using insurance for filters years ago because my co pay for one filter was more than what I could buy a pack of 10 filters for on Amazon....and my DME at that time wasn't selling name brand anyway.

This information is perfectly timed for me.
My DME has been providing sh*tty filters for a while, and I am ready to trade up.
I no longer recommend them.
Edit: When I got real Resmed hypoallergenic filters, they were softer and thinner than
the filters I have gotten lately--which are stiff, thick, and scratchy.
Unless the OEM filters have changed, my DME has been jerking me around.

For general information others may be interested in, the filtering specs of the ResMed filters reflect they are in fact superior to the generic filters.

Additionally, every generic I have researched does not even show any specs at all.
I guess they are afraid that information will show just how inferior they are.

I asked 1 vendor about that.
Their answer was their filters were generic & therefore were just as good as the brand names.

I assure you that is not the case.

If anybody has solid information about decent, affordable filters,
maybe we need a dedicated thread--with links.
Edit: I spoke to my DME, and they have a nice generic hypo. filter nearly identical to the Resmed.
They said, "Somebody had made a mistake on that order."
I am taking back all the crap filters they sold me--2 orders worth.
Since I canceled my plan F supplement, I will only buy what parts I need,
and pay the copay upfront, if that works.
3 bucks and change for six good filters--I can do that.
