Long time cpap user (13 years). Marvelous invention, works perfectly for me! I have my old s9 autoset as a backup and a troublesome s10 airsense (4 yrs old). Medicare pays 20% of DME so seems wise to simply get a new machine rather than send the old one out for repairs. Already repaired once and acting up again. God bless my S9, still runs like a charm, but is long since past the recommended hours of use.
Which Resmed should I buy, the S10 or S11? I see no difference in AHI or sleep quality when operating at a fixed pressure of 17.5 versus as an apap with a pressure range of 15 to 18. Kinda disappointed in the s10 with needing two repairs in just 4 years. S9 had zero in 9 years... Any real benefits for selecting s11 over the s10? Users happy with s11?
I had hoped to purchase a new cpap from cpap.com but my insurance company insists on a local DME provider. We have an excellent medicare advantage plan through Blue Cross of Idaho so will not change providers over that issue (or any other!).

Medicare Advantage plans tend to do perpetual rental, which costs more in the long run.
You are probably ahead with cpap.com.
If finances are a problem, LSAT may have a gently used model for less than retail.
Or you can use Secondwindcpap.com, who sell used or open box cpaps.

Re: Advice on a new ResMed cpap
Chunky Frog, I asked Blue Cross of Idaho if I need to rent or if I can just purchase outright (paying 20% cost, Medicare advantage 80%). They said my choice. CPAP.com has an S10 for $695. If I purchase locally, my cost is $200 (out of a $1000 DME price). Easy choice. Would like to support cpap.com but not at that price difference...
Just an addendum, BCI has a rent to own so would cost the same, just spread out over a year's time. No relation to my deductible.

Do not accept anything less than an Autoset or Autoset for Her.MyIdaho1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:07 amChunky Frog, I asked Blue Cross of Idaho if I need to rent or if I can just purchase outright (paying 20% cost, Medicare advantage 80%). The DME gets paid the same for the cheaper models, which have fewer features.
Expect the DME to charge extra for humidifier (even though it's built in),
And anything else.

Great tips! Totally agree that new machine needs to be an autoset, have a humidifer, and climateline tubing. The myAir app does not seem to add much value to me. I use my cpap 100% of the time with s10 screen reported AHI's less than 1. Average 9 hrs a sleep per night. Really nothing out of the ordinary for myAir to report! I'm leaning toward the s10 autoset.

I've used both the Autoset 10 and Autoset 11. No difference in therapeutic result. Personally I'd go with which is cheapest.
