STILL TIRED

Post by BOBBY » Thu Nov 11, 2004 12:24 pm

i go to bed at approx 10pm,i put on my mask straight away,i have it on a delay timer for 20mins,as i watch tv in bed,and i usally fall asleep sraight after that,i then wake up a couple of times, either to alter my mask or to put it back on after i have ripped it of(last nigt i was dreaming and i tried to eat my mask) i then sleep a bit and then the funniest thing,i wake up every night get out of bed, look at the clock and it is exactly 3.30am,that is every night since i first started cpap. weird or what ?
also is it common for cpap users to still feel tired about midday onwards,
i feel great in the morning when i first wake, then i start to slow down at about lunch time

It sounds as thou your repaying your sleep debt

Hi

On yes, I had the same experince like you did on the 1st few mths of CPAP I would be reved at morning after using CPAP and I'd get sleep straight after lunch as well. It seem that you are repaying your sleep debt, you might of been so deprivied of decent sleep at night that naps are a normal part of re paying the sleep debt you've build up.

I too sleep after lunch myself as I had sleep apeona that deprived me of decent sleep. It took a few good mths of having decent sleep at night with the CPAP machine plus decent naps with the machine as well to repay my sleep debt. Now I don't nap anymore, unless I have to.

Say If I have a really late night and really hectic day on top of I waking up too early I need naps as what I take from my sleep bank has to be repaid back ie: I get too early in morning and I tired myself out during the day and exhusted, The next day a mid afternoon nap on top of my good night's sleep is needed to repay the debt in my sleep bank!

Plus I had a time when I kept on losing my mask as I'd take it off in my sleep, I took it off whist half asleep and kept on finding it next to my bed on the floor!!! It took a while for me to get used to keeping the mask on my face and to sleep without removing my nasal mask at night.

Now I can keep my mask on for most of the night.

Keep up with it, this the normal process of recovery.....
Been on CPAP for a while.....I had moderate apenoa

hey

yes i felt the same way with my first time on the cpap and honestly i still experience this from time to time it took me like almost 3 years to get used to my mask and sometimes i still have problems

as i have mentioned before i sometimes put the cpap mask on when i cant keep my eyes open that way i know i am SLEEPY if i put it on too early i will never fall asleep and its like i am just sitting there with my mask on and that can be irritating

also my sleep pattern is STRANGE like i went to sleep at 11 tonight and i am up now its like i sleep maybe 5 hours and then i am up

during the day if i get sleepy i put my cpap on before i fall asleep yes i sometimes get sleepy during the after noon too
