I'm back, I'm insane, and I am ok
I don't have hypersomina or Narcolepsy. I was mis-diagnosed. It was confirmed that it was a mis-diagnosis and that my bipolar depression caused the intense fatgiue, but NOT sleepiness. I am doing much better now

I am glad you came back Billymadison420 and let us know how you are doing.
And I'm glad that finally you got a diagnosis that makes sense AND most important, I'm glad that you are doing better.
Here's hoping that you continue recovering and feeling well.

Re: I'm back, I'm insane, and I am ok
Spending time in a mental hospital. I was on Zyprexa for a month and a half, and my sleepiness/fatigue all but went away. Or at least any worry about it. Unfortunately, I couldn't tolerate other side effects and had to get off. And while I know now that I do NOT have Narcolepsy or IH, I am back to worrying a lot about my tiredness. But with how well I was doing on Zyrpexa and the almost total remission of symptoms It points to what every doctor, family member, and many forum members were saying here: Depression.
I trained my brain over a year to think that any time I was tired that I was "falling asleep'. This isn't true, because I never actually did. But now its really hard to unlearn that somatization/reaction. It's really hard to experience tiredness/fatigue/sleepiness (or whatever you want to call it) and know that it's not because I didn't get enough sleep. It's from depression and probably me sensitizing myself from obsession. The depression has slowly crept back in again 1-month off medication. I have started running again and that's helping a bit.
I may also try to find a specific therapist for health anxiety/somatic symptom disorder.
Re: I'm back, I'm insane, and I am ok
Some people get the urge to go to bed to escape their depression when it hits. I wouldn't blame myself for that urge; I would just file it under recognizable and logical reaction to a sensation. You seem self-aware enough that I hope you get good benefit from talking things out with a pro. But it's good that you also get the fact that meds have an important role for some in certain circumstances. Some drugs' side effects can lessen over time if you can put up with the bumpy runway on the way to the eventual smoother flight.
I wish you best with your battle and appreciate the effort you are putting into it. And thanks for the update.

I'm glad you found out what was going on.
I hope you can find something to give you lasting relief without nasty side effects.

Thanks Jeff! If nothing else I am glad the meds taught me a valuable lesson and showed me the "truth" of what was happening in a way that was undeniable. I wish I could stay on meds. Unfortunately, all of the mental health ones have resulted in almost total sexual dysfunction which I just simply cannot tolerate. In a dream magical world these medications would do the good things they do and cause no side effects.lazarus wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 12:59 pmSome people get the urge to go to bed to escape their depression when it hits. So my plan now is a lot of acceptance, a lot of mindfulness, a lot of exercise,s and running. A lot of sleep hygiene and weekly therapy. And hopefully find a specific doctor to help with my health anxiety. If things get to a fever pitch again and are bad enough I would go back on medication to stabilize. I did it before for 12 years (was off meds and doing well), and hopefully, I can again.

This sounds like a good plan for the immediate future, as well as a back-up plan if things start to deteriorate again.Billymadison420 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 9:08 amSo my plan now is a lot of acceptance, a lot of mindfulness, a lot of exercise,s and running. Sounds like a great plan, your self awareness is truly admirable! Hope you’re following docs advice and tapering off the meds rather than stopping cold if that’s what they advised you to do. Hope you find a good doctor to help keeping to work thru the process of retraining your brain so you can keep weathering the ups and downs and keep the anxiety about your health at bay. Good luck!Billymadison420 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 9:08 amIf nothing else I am glad the meds taught me a valuable lesson and showed me the "truth" of what was happening in a way that was undeniable.
