New to Cpap - mask questions
New to Cpap - mask questions
So I got a resmed 11 a few weeks ago with a resmed f20 full face mask - i was able to sleep with right away it but it was so close to my eyes it started bothering me. yesterday I swapped it for a resmed p30i. I felt like I couldn’t breath when I first put it one and it took a while to get adjusted but then it was ok - I woke up to use the restroom and then the same thing happened - will it get easier or should I look into something else (I taped my mouth shut but chin strap should be here today)? The place I got from gives you one mask and then you can try one more within 30 days - you can’t try on any others. Any advice appreciated
Re: New to Cpap - mask questions
Are you using the ramp feature? Is it on or off? If on, how long?
What are your current settings for pressure, exhale relief, etc.?

Quite a few people feel air-starved when their pressure is set to 5. In addition, the machine can't go lower than 4, so you don't get your full EPR until the pressure goes up to 7.
But before recommending a change to your settings, we'd love to see that Oscar chart. Take a screenshot and share that. The forum site frequently bumps up against an attachment limit, so if it won't let you attach the screenshot, try using an image hosting service like Imgur and provide a link to your image.

Re: New to Cpap - mask questions
There's something odd about the way Oscar is reading your SD card, and I don't have the expertise to suggest what you might do about it. I will write a PM to one or two people who might be able to help with that.
In the meantime, I would recommend that you set your minimum to 7 and keep your EPR at 3. I'm betting that will feel a little better. And turn off the ramp.
Your OAs mostly came in a cluster, which suggests you might have a positional issue. Clustered OAs sometimes occur when people who usually sleep on their sides rolls onto their back. They can also occur when people tuck their chins down toward their chests.
Do you use a high pillow, or several pillows? If so, you might benefit from using a single, low and firm pillow, which may help you maintain a good neck/head position. And do you do much sleeping on your back? If yes, no point in tormenting yourself, but if you can try doing more of your sleeping on your sides, that might make for a more restful night for you.

Ok thanks! Let me know what to do when you find out
Re: New to Cpap - mask questions
At this point, OSCAR reports "device settings unknown" and "PAP mode unknown". Which is almost too bizarre for words. And the other numbers (pressure, ramp time etc.) are "out of this world" as well. A total, thorough, unreliable mess.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 11:14 amThere's something odd about the way Oscar is reading your SD card,
There are number of ways or understanding /guessing what happened, e.g. did you by any chance attempt to read the files on the SD by other means?
But I don't think systematic troubleshooting is worth the time here. I'd started by trying to create a clear slate - in the machine and on the SD card - by dong the following steps:
1) Disconnect the power supply from both the wall and the machine. And let it stand like that for 10 minutes or so.
2) While the machine is disconnected, I'd creat a new OSCAR profile.
3) I'd format the SD card in the computer.
4) Connect the APAP to the electricity
5) Reset the APAP to factory settings, wait a while.
6) Make sure wireless is in flight mode, and say you don't want to change it.
7)Insert the SD card, let the machine identify it and reformat it.
8 ) Wait another 5 minutes or so
9) Take the SD card out and read it in the new OSCAR profile on my computer.
If the machine and its settings are identified the next step would be to reinstert the card in the AS11 and then reset the AS11 to your preferred settings.
Use the machine at night and check it the next day to see if the settings were identified and saved.

Re: New to Cpap - mask questions
Here are suggestions from two other forum members:
(1) Definitely corrupt data. I would suggest to her to delete the day's data:
Data/Advanced/Purge Current Selected Day
Then re-import to see if the odd data comes back.
Importing it into SleepHQ, to see if the strange data is also presented, is a good idea. Seeing the same unreasonable values in SleepHq would confirm the odd values are in the file and not just in this import.
If she's seeing it on other days as well, I would suggest a new SD Card.
(2) Have her load it into SleepHQ and share the link.
