Hi guys,
anyone got any ideas on mitigating my CA clusters? Would be much appreciated!
Kind regards

Re: CA Clusters
I think that there are enough CAs to be concerned. I would see your doctor for a possible pressure adjustment or different machine.

Re: CA Clusters
First of all some questions to help clarify things.
1...Were you actually sound asleep for the above night or did you spend most of the night fighting falling asleep and/or staying asleep? For now I am going to assume you were actually asleep.
2...What sleep study did you have that caused you to earn being put on cpap? Home study with some sort of belt around chest or abdomen or chest or a sleep study done in a lab setting with tech in attendance?
Do you have a copy of that sleep study? If you don't...request a copy.
Did that sleep study mention very many central apneas?
3...Have you made your doctor aware of the results above? If you haven't you need to.
If you were indeed sound asleep I don't know that there is much we can offer in an effort to reduce the centrals with the current machine depending on what original sleep study showed.
Reducing the pressure may or may not improve the results in central numbers and even if it did the reduction in pressure may actually increase the number of OAs and hyponeas so you end up trading one type of apnea event for another.

Adding to Pugsy's very important questions:
How long have you been using CPAP?
How long have you been seeing that amount of CA's?

Re: CA Clusters
Hello, so to answer your questions:
1. Yes I was sound asleep
2. I was diagnosed with mixed apnea with an AHI of 97
3. I have been using it for about 2 months and at the beginning my centrals were pretty much non-existent, they only started appearing in the last few weeks

Re: CA Clusters
If you had a number of centrals without even being on the cpap machine during your sleep study then it is unlikely that cpap itself is going to fix your issue.
I suspect maybe a new different machine is needed.
You need to be getting with your doctor about the appearance of these centrals at this point in time.
While an occasional central isn't a big deal....you have more than "an occasional" going on.
Usually...at least in the US...5 centrals per hour average is where the line is drawn. There's a very real possibility you need a machine that can both deal with obstructive stuff and central stuff at the same time.
Probably the ASV model. It can do both very nicely.
While sometimes cpap can deal with centrals....it's not a high probability and looks like you weren't so lucky.

Re: CA Clusters
IMO you should look at that in SleepHQ. Those look a little too far apart to actually be "clusters".
Freeze this moment a little bit longer.
Make each sensation a little bit stronger.

Re: CA Clusters
MoritzP99, do you live at a high altitude? If so, was your sleep study also done at high altitude? Failing that, I think Pugsy's right that you may be heading for an ASV.
