Mildewing heated tubing

Post by LisaLHart » Sun Feb 19, 2023 11:38 am

Hi, I am currently struggling with keeping my tubing from mildewing. I immediately hang when I rise in the morning and had been cleaning with a vinegar/water mixture once a week, then using machine blow out as much moisture as I can before hanging. That had worked for several yrs. Recently new tubing lasted 2 weeks and mildew set in. New hose this week after second use it has a faint smell.

I live southern California, coastal but not high humidity area.

How often do you rinse your tubing?

My source is from Cpap.com

Any suggestions or help would really be appreciated,
Lisa

Most here don't ever do it - no need.

once, when i first started 7 1/2 years ago. since joining the forum, i've learned that it's not necessary and haven't cleaned it since.

My current Climateline hose is 2 years old.
I have NEVER cleaned it.
Humidity gets to 80% or worse here.
No mildew.
Replace your hose, and STOP exposing it to tap water and frequent "cleaning",
which is reinfecting your hose with mildew.

I am also in the camp of the "non-cleaners" but I bought and use a "healthy hose" (non-heated) which is supposed to have anti-fungal properties. I have never had a problem---so far. If you continue to have problems with mildew, you might consider the "healthy hose" brand, and let us know the results.
