I have a c-flex question

Post by ITeach » Tue Mar 22, 2005 7:00 pm

I have used my Remstar Auto. My RT said that I would not notice a difference in pressure on exhaling even with it turned to 3. I don't believe that it has been turned on because I don't get the setting as one of the options on the menu when I hold down the ramp key. I keep waking up in the middle of the night with my pressure around 15 or 15.5 and I am finding it hard to exhale. I don't want to fight the RT or Neuro on it, but I am not making it all the way through the night without waking up a few times due to either leaks or high pressure. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

Don't settle for less than what you need just because some dopey technician isn't getting a golf trip for promoting C-Flex. It's YOUR therapy and YOUR health and happiness they're fooling with. C-Flex will very definately provide relief from those pressures, even set at 1. If it takes getting pushy, go for it. The improvement will be worth it. Good luck!

In this world you have to fight for your rights. If you are not able to tolerate exhaling against the pressure than C-Flex is exactly what you need, go for REMSTAR AUTO w/C-FLEX

Your RT is a complete idiot.

Speaking from my experience, at lower pressures of say 4-6, you probably wouldn't notice too much of a differance.

I know I notice a huge differance at 9 and up, and at your 15, you'll definately notice an improvement when trying to exhale.

C-Flex is a fantastic feature, and am certain has contributed to my compliance level being 100%
Trying is the first step towards failure.

I want to thank all of your for your advice/information. I am only 35, but have spent all of my life, now my children's too, learning to deal with the medical community. I will fight for care I know I need and deserve. I just wasn't sure that I understood correctly. I see my neuro and RT early next week, and I wanted to get my story straight before I deal with them.. My low pressure is at 8, which they hooked me to in the office, but it never got higher while I was there. I have no problem breathing against the 8. As a matter of fact, I have awakened in the morning thinking I had taken my mask off during the night because the 8 was so comfortable. I didn't think the RT knew what she was doing when she set it, now I just need to get more info about my prescription so I know if I should change it myself or wait until I see the Dr next week.

CFlex

If they hooked you up in a seated position, of course, the titration would be incorrect - duh. The problem begins in a supine position and when sleeping the musculature relaxes. If you want the CFlex turn it on - it is your life. They almost killed me without CFlex because I have asthma. You are your own best proponent - fight for your rights. If they do not want to give you CFlex, find out why! "Because" is not an acceptable answer for teenagers or medical care!!!!!
