fills with water, why what to do
fills with water, why what to do
I use a nose mask and for some reason it is filling up with water, moisture can you tell me why and what to do?thanks in advance for the help.
Assuming you have a humidifier, that's called "rainout". You need to either get a hose cover to keep the humidity from condensing against the (relatively) colder sides of the hose, or you need to turn down the humidity setting.
(It's roughly the same reason why a cold glass "sweats" on a warm humid day, only in reverse).

This is called rainout. It is caused by warm moist air cooling off in the tube/mask and the water condensing in the tube/mask. There are several things you can do.
- Turn up the heat in your bedroom.
- Get an insulated hose sleeve.
- Get a heated hose.
- Turn down the setting on your heated humidifier (if you have one).
- Route the hose under your blankets.
You may do any combination of the above suggestions and they may or may not work depending on your situation. Try them out and let us know how it goes.

Two other suggestions which were missed (one serious, one silly):
1) You could try changing where you have the hose, so that instead of having rainout water flow down the hose towards your face, it flows down the hose to the reservoir. This works better if your CPAP machine is lower than the edge of your bed.
2) Have gills surgically implanted, so you can breathe even with the water.
Good luck!
