Newbie question

I sent a PM to someone as a follow up to a topic I'm interested in and it went into an outbox and never sent. Why is that?

it's how the forum software works. it stays in the outbox until the recipient logs in and reads it.

Great, thanks! I belong to at least a half dozen other forums. None of the others work like that so it wasn't obvious to me.
