question about my bilevel pressure settings

Post by zonker » Thu Aug 25, 2022 5:36 pm

here, have a chart-

Image

and yeah, that's ugly. it's also in no way typical of my nights. i figure one of pugsy's demons came to visit last night. so i'm not seeking help with that.

i don't understand bilevel settings so i'm asking for help. my settings say-

ps 4.0 over 12.4-25.0

yet on the chart above, the pressure graph shows the pressure banging it's poor head on the roof of 23?

is this due to the ps 4.0 settings?

or what am i missing here?

The machine algorithm didn't think it needed to go past 23 cm pressure.

Yeah, it *could have* gone up further, but that was as far as it wanted... it just happened to be the same time several times in a row.

Put your cursor on each of the flat spots on the pressure trace

Then look at the value on the left side of trace.

See if all the flat spots are exactly 22.0

That flat spot looks to much like a capped max. Add to that it coincidently happened to be exactly 22.0 a whole number.

I'm leaning some kind of glitch.

If all those flat spots sre also 22.0 exactly, I'll lean even more to a glitch.

Another explanation,; your machine was set to cap at 22. In the same ResMed day, it was changed to 25. The machine only report's one set of settings values per day.

well, THAT bites. i want the machine to give its best regardless.

i've seen this happen before on the machine, where it didn't go all the way up. but this struck me in particular as all i saw was the machine could've but didn't.

thanks!

and that several times in a row is what caught my attention.

thanks for that. following your instructions, the machine never got to 22. highest seems to be 21.9. you've made me peer a little more closely and i can see without the cursor trick that i didn't make 22. i've got to get my eyes retested.

i don't understand the last three sentences i quoted. can you explain your concepts using different words?

OK, with this new information, specifically the flat line wasn't on 22.0, I'm going to take the same position as palerider and Okie. The machine didn't need to go any higher.

It looks odd, because it's the same pattern we all too often see when people have their maximums capped,

Yes, but given the new information, I don't think this happened. But I'll re-describe because it is something we see on the forums occasionally.

On ResMeds (and likely all manufacturers devices) there is only one settings file stored on the SD Card. This sometimes manifests in graphs that don't make sense.

On days where the device configuration changes, sessions that occurred prior to the change may show values, outside of what the OSCAR displayed settings are.

Here is an example:
Image

Take a look at the settings ps 4.0 8.6-25
yet the first session clearly is at 8.2, well below 8.6.

The explanation, the machine was originally set at 8.2-25 and then changed to 8.6. But, that isn't represented on OSCAR because multiple configs in a day can't be represented.

I included the potential for you having changed your config as another explanation.

okay, if three of the brightest people say it's so, it's so.

no seriously thank you for the explanation.
