Hi all,
I'm a 22 year old guy (145 lb 5'8), suspecting that I have UARS since my AHI is low with higher RERAs / RDI. My symptoms include fatigue and brain fog symptoms: cannot concentrate/focus... poor memory, lack of internal monologue at most parts of the day, every day. My symptoms started when I moved into a new apartment that I was super allergic to (likely mold and dust, maybe pet dander), and I have had them for two years. My ENT said I have swollen, enlarged inferior turbinates, likely from the allergies, and I have nasal congestion when I sleep. I recently had a sleep study and a titration test, and they diagnosed me with sleep apnea (though my AHI < 5).
THIS SOUNDS LIKE CLASSIC MOLD TOXICITY.
Most ENTS will just ablate your turbinates, cut out inflamed tissues and treat the symptoms. Find an ENT that understands mold toxicity and learn about it. Listen to podcasts by Dr Donald Dennis who is the top ENT that treats mold toxicity.
Best thing anyone in this situation could do is:
1.Get out of the mold environments. You moved out which is good. But you could also test the air in your current enviroments with mold plates or other testing, get rid of carpet and dust collecting furniture, and use a HEPA air filter.
2.Treat your body for colonization. Since you moved out and still have problems you likely have internal colonization in your sinus or intestines. You can get a mold mytoxin urine test to confirm the toxins in your system such as one offered by great plains.
You should also rule out tick-borne infections like Lyme that are commonly flared up in mold exposures. They are often seen together in many people with sleep issues.
